Some of the sites will place you with a view of your neighbors slideouts so pick one where they get to look at your back end and not the other way around. At $60 a night this is the only cause for not getting 5 stars.

Camping close to Charleston, SC. The park has a lot of amenities if that is what you are into. It has dog park, hiking trails, waterpark and full hook up. There isn't a lot of privacy here. The McLeod Plantation is a must see.

Pros:
Close to Charleston and folly beach
Nice dog park
Nice paved trails (if that appeals to you)
Cons
Expensive
Tight and popular so crowded family oriented park
Constant barking from dogs became very annoying
Very little privacy, not peaceful

It’s a nice enough campground, if you choose the right site! We’re giving it 3 stars for the full hookups, the dog park at the park and the proximity to Charleston.
Unfortunately our site was doubled with another camper and being full hookup meant our outdoor space was directly next to their sewage line. It was hard to find a place to sit outside and not smell that. To avoid this stay away from the following sites (Avoid 67, 124, 72, 100, 92, 93, 96, 51, 23, 24, 18, 19, 10).
The park is nice. It has walking/biking trails and a large dog park that we really made the most of!! There is an upcoming Festival of Lights that will restrict campers coming and going, so be aware of that if you’re planning a trip around the holidays.
Overall we didn’t feel like we got what we paid for and are leaving feeling disappointed overall with the campground. We may return, and this time hopefully my list of better sites will change our minds.

Facilities were clean and washers & dryers, although outside, were in ok shape. One washer and dryer were out of order. Site backed up to a pond with lots of fiddler crabs. Sites were spaced well with decent foliage separating them. Did spend a little time on the trails (geocaching) but didn't break out the bikes. Nice trails and fields. Must be pretty busy in the summer given the size of the parking lots.

I absolutely loved camping in this beautiful county park. The sites were large, private and level in most areas. All utilities worked well. Check in is at the camp store which is on the right when you enter the campground area. This is a large park with lots of day use areas so you will have to drive for a while before you reach the actual campground. Just keep following the signs. Getting to the park requires a drive through parts of Charleston which was a little nerve wracking. There are lots of trees that hang over the road and though we made it with no major damage to our roof, we did notice a couple new scratches. We did find a way out that had fewer overhanging trees, but they are pretty much unavoidable. So just be ready for that, try to stay closer to the middle line and in the left lane when possible, to avoid all the trees.
The campground had one of the most beautiful camp stores I have ever seen. All the essentials (except for beer, as it is not allowed!) plus many local products and crafts. They also offer daily shuttle service from the park to downtown Charleston for $10 leaving at 9 am and returning at 4 pm. This is a great service if you want to visit downtown with out the hassle of trying to park your big tow vehicle on the narrow streets downtown. We used the shuttle service one day and the following day we used a combination of city bus and Uber to head downtown. The Uber rate was only about $15 from downtown in the evening. It was really hot and humid while were there so we did check out any of the trails, but areas of the park we drove around all looks very nice. I did use the park restroom one time and it was immaculate, I also took a peak at one of the shower stalls at it looked very nice too. The do have guest laundry near on the back of the restroom building for $2/$2. I used it and it was nice and worked well. The park was quite for the most part except for our last morning when there seemed to be a street sweeper or something going around the campground at 5:30 am for a while. It woke me up but I was too tired to get us to see what it was exactly after fun the previous night in Charleston.
Cell coverage with ATT was pretty good, I did stream a couple things and it worked efficiently. T-Mobile barely worked at all. Got plenty of OTA TV channels including all the major networks. The park does offer WIFI, but I did not try it. Overall I would highly recommend this park, and would probably be willing to endure another nerve wracking drive through the tree lined streets of Charleston and James Island to come back for another stay.

This park has so many amenities. The showers abs bathrooms were super clean. Staff was helpful. There is an adventure course, but you need advance reservations so plan ahead. We did not visit the pool, but it looked nice (costs extra). Great location and WiFi available.
