There is one path to the lake from this campground which is less than a quarter mile to lake access. This is depending on your site. We were at 147. There’s a small beach there but it probably will be quite occupied (on the weekend) with families who want that access as well. And DEFINITELY bring bug spray.
Dump station and potable water at the entrance were all in working order. There are water pumps throughout the campgrounds that were available as well.
I would come back again and stay at one of the other campgrounds that have a bit more tree cover.

So, including the showers we paid $49 for no shower and only electric. Should be $18.
Bathroom sinks had tons of dead bugs and the mirror and under the toilet seat were disgusting. It’s dusty desert prairie with super sharp thistles that penetrated our sandals and shoes and are very hard to remove or sweep out and the little lake looks man-made.
Colorado is crap for camping. Ridiculously expensive. Colorado has high taxes and makes so much from cannabis they should subsidize public services like state parks instead of trying to make a profit.
The people who left good reviews must have never been to other states with better camping. Idaho has much more beautiful sites with full hook ups for $25.

I would likely choose a site with electric if we visited in the summer. The sky was amazingly dark at night and the campground was also very quiet at night. We had great AT&T service and almost no service on Verizon in our campsite. Overall, this was a relaxing place to spend the weekend close to our home.

If you love 'Merica, and love your rights and liberties above all else, then this is the campground for you! You can have a campfire- even when there is a statewide fire ban. You can take a picture of your 5-foot flames with your American flag in the background. You can run your generator at 3 o'clock in the morning! You can even throw your personal hygiene products right on the floor of the bathroom - no one will clean it up, and no one will tell you that you can't! You can shoot your guns early in the morning, swear at the top of your lungs as people are trying to go to sleep, and even light off fireworks in September! So pack up your ammo, bring your flags, your Miller, and don't forget the bug spray - because there are plenty of mosquitos!

The swim beach is also very small so I’m not sure how crowded that could be if it were hot and a busier weekend. The beach also is backed by a marsh so it is probably buggy ?

There are a few camping spots which are secluded and right by the lake. We’ve only ever gotten those spots in the winter on warm weekends. There are lots of spots near the lake that are less secluded. Those are what we usually get. Bugs can get unwieldy in the midst of summer. So can the boat traffic. The pelicans are always cool though.
The quaint little town of ft Morgan is 15 to 20 minutes away. It is small but has a couple of good places to eat and a little dirt track if that’s your thing.
Speaking of track, the state park has a 1ish mile track for ohh that is wide enough for side by sides. It’s fun times for an hour or two.

We stayed one night when visiting family in Hudson. Our site was large and easy to get to. We asked for “away from people” and we backed up to the marina. We asked if there was water and were told yes but it’s just a filling station. The bathrooms had A LOT of bugs and the trash dumpsters were overflowing. At night, the bugs were even worse. We got swarmed going from our truck to our camper. There were probably 100 inside the camper..no joke. The lake is beautiful but it was too hot outside for us to enjoy it.
