Bill & Jeri RV Travels would stay here again

“Okay for an overnight”

We were on our way back home after a month-long trip to AZ and UT and stopped here for one night so my wife could get her gambling fix on the slots. While they have free parking we opted for one of the paid pull-thru sites with electric and water (although we did not use the water). Actually, it was a waste of money. If we stay here again I will use the free area. The pull-thru sites were too short in length to hold both our 31' travel trailer and truck, so I had to unhook, something I really do not like to do on one nighters. The site was pretty level and all paved, of course. The casino area sits almost beneath the big bridge on I-10 and with the comings and goings of casino patrons somewhat noisy. We had a bad thunderstorm during the night, but no issues. The casino is pretty nice. We also ate at the very pricey buffet ($38 each) and while the food was good, it was not worth the price to us. My wife said the slots were pretty chintzy in payouts. LOL (she about always says that). The camping area is easy to get to off I-10.

“Overnight right off I-10 between New Orleans and Texas”

The management definitely doesn't make it easy to stay here - first we called the casino's hotel just to ask about availability, then were transferred to some off-site call center reservation line where they took our payment information over the phone and said we couldn't just show up and book a site in person - everyone had to call the reservation line before arriving. Who knows if that's the truth, but it's kind of a pain to call and make a reservation a half hour before arriving just to sleep overnight. Anyway..

This place is LOUD. You're under the interstate bridge, next to the river, in the middle of a casino parking lot. BUT it's only $20, there's electric hookups, and they give you keycard access to the health club in their very clean and modern hotel, which includes the outdoor pool and hot tub (they weren't open in the winter, though), fitness center with some weight machines and treadmills, bathrooms, showers, and saunas.

If you go in and sign up for a free player's club card, you'll get some slot play money and the free drinks that go along with hanging out in the casino. That makes it worth the ambient noise if you're a weary traveler looking to relax or play some games. For van dwellers, especially, this would be a good stop for a shower.

Be sure to follow the signs to the hotel parking lot - not the casino - then enter the second lot on the left: the car area of the parking lot. The first entrance is an RV and bus parking lot, but we didn't ask about dry camping there. If we were going to put up with the noise we at least wanted to go sit in the sauna and use the showers.

The sites are all pull-thrus but only about 35-40 feet long, so you'll have to detach your tow vehicle or toad if you're longer than that and park it separately to avoid hanging out and blocking traffic. Sites are narrow, but the end spots are better and you can put out your slides if you position yourself correctly next to the power pedestals and other RV's. After you pick a site, go inside to the hotel desk and they'll get you checked in and someone will come unlock the power pedestal cover. Not bad for an overnight, but the noise would drive me crazy if I wasn't already exhausted from driving all day and relaxed after the hot sauna and shower.
