Old campground. Not suited for big rigs. Shower was hot but dirty. Close to Kings Canyon. Petty drive in the spring time getting there. The rode was windy.

Echoing what others have said. Stunning views of the lake. Twisty road, 45 minute drive from Sequioa NP. Bring what you need. Fresno is about a 30 mile drive, but has all that you might need. Park was short-handed during our stay. Honor system check in. Only saw a ranger pass by once. Currently, no hosts. Very poorly maintained bath houses.
Sites not level.
BUT, the most amazing views. Some of the best we've seen at a campground.

We found this hidden gem while looking at the Campendium map for places near kings canyon and sequoia. we are visiting these national parks during the winter and most of the national parks don’t have sites available in the winter or electric. We scored 8 beautiful peaceful days here at island park. Site 34 is the ONLY site that has electric and water with views of both the mountains & lake on one side and the valley on the other. We unhooked our 27” airstream and drove the switchbacks and snowy roads up to kings canyon and sequoia (we had no idea the road between the two is closed during winter, like many other things) also you can only see the general Sherman tree Friday-Sunday due to the fires and sometimes closes with bad weather. We absolutely loved our stay and our national park visits. The ONLY thing I would say is the bathhouse here is probably the yuckiest I’ve been in, the shower pressure is barely enough but there’s hot water. They just really need to be updated badly. Get your groceries PRIOR to arrival, the entrance is step and dark at night.

Very clean, great walking the dog, nice ranger, good facilities and very cool campsites up on the hill part. The ones in the flat down by the water are just set in a grid and really without trees for shade. We had a nice view, cool site - they really made some awesome tent sites too - good hiking trails (not that we did any due to the heat - we were here at the beginning of August, 2021. And, yes TIGHT & STEEP road in to the campground area. Would not want to bring a big rig or very large trailer down or up that road.

We booked #4 for 4 nights and were greatly disappointed on our arrival. It was 6pm and the Ranger had left the park, and there isn't a camp host. AT&T cell service was Nil - 1 bar, so I walked to the top of the hill, scoped out the campsites and went on line to see what was still available. #'s 8 and 9 are amazing sites but were occupied. With slow cell service I still managed to book site #7 for our stay because it was available our exact days.
Site #7 is Amazingly beautiful, shady but still had good sun spots for our suitcase solar, generously spaced from our neighbors, and had full hookups as well!
We stayed Mon-Friday and this campground is remarkably quiet during the day, teaming with birds, squirrels, bunnies, and FOXTAILS (pet owners beware). Rattlesnake warnings everywhere, but we fortunately didn't see any. Its windy in the early evening up on the Upper Loops area, and absolutely silent at night! We didn't need to use restrooms but I checked them out and they are clean with running water, flush toilets, and hand dryers.
Our trailer is a 17' Casita Travel Trailer.
We loved our stay, day tripped into Kings Canyon, and will definitely return to this beautiful park.

We left our camper here while we took a tent and camped in Kings Canyon National park. We would not pull a camper into Kings Canyon unless it was a teardrop and very small. The Rangers come Through the park often. We were here May 9-16, 2021. During the week it was empty but totally full Friday through Sunday.

Otherwise you might end up somewhere you can't turn around! When we visited the reservoir was very low. I took the dog for a walk down to the water and she got covered with stickers. Watch out! The good thing is it is close enough that you can drive to the national parks without hauling your RV all the way up there.

The bathrooms were a little bit unkept and not so clean and since we only had 50amp power and no water or sewer we did need to do a little careful planning of use in our RV. Some sites have water and even some with sewer, so just pick carefully. All rangers we talked with and even on-site volunteers were very nice.
We visited Kings Canyon from here and it was also a bit of a drive, but just beautiful!
Oh, and the stars and Milky Way - WOW!
Cell service limited, but we got about 1 bar on AT&T from our spot.
