Chanced it and went to the area anyway, parked between 4-H building and basketball court. VERY strong cell signal, and very quiet. Might be different if things are going on around there, but seemed to be a good stop during the off season.

Called the number for the county and was told we couldn’t stay and had to pay to stay in a city park. They said this lot was only for overflow when the city parks were full.

I recommend doing this for any future boondockers as well. Wasn’t given any directions, so I parked in the back near the 4-H building as well. There is lots of space to walk or run. There are two small playgrounds and a bunch of baseball fields. Definitely a good spot for a night’s rest!

This park is about 10 miles from I-10. I called the city number to verify we could stay there and she gave me the county number to call. It’s 432-639-2841. I was told we could spend the night (a Thursday night) but they didn’t want us there over the weekend. It probably depends on the time of year because when we got there, there were Little League baseball games going on. So, my suggestion would be to just call ahead and check. We parked at the back of the park in a gravel parking lot for the 4-H club. If you take exit 307 from I-10, there are steep downhill grades to Iraan. The west bound approach from I-10 is flat.
