Indian Springs State Park

The entrance and camp roads are narrow and twisted. Be aware if you have a long rig (we are 54ft nose to tail). The campground is on rolling hills and the sites are not level. We were 2in off side to side. Others are worse off. There are nice bike trails and a beautiful lake to enjoy while here. T-Mobile service is low but since we camped in Feb. the foliage was light and Starlink worked fine. The town of Jackson is close for supplies.

Booked this SP as a quick weekend getaway since it is 1 hr drive from home. Site #41 was good for our tiny trailer. Only slightly off camber. Some other sites did require more leveling so just be aware. We arrived after the visitor center closed, so we just setup in our site and handled registration the next morning with no issues.

I would NOT advise site #35 unless you are tent camping due to short driveway and slope down to tent pad. Sites #1 - 22 have easy access to grey water dumps all along the loop.

The loop we stayed on was very full and only 1 bathhouse for almost 40 camp sites, which made for a less than ideal bathroom/shower situation - not that clean and ran out of TP. If I returned, and it's likely due to closeness to home, I would consider sites #1 - 22 based on these factors.

If you are a mountain biker, this SP is great due to easy access to Dauset Trails. Bring an extra water bottle and get some of the springs water. It smells like sulfur so I was advised to let it sit when I get home, uncapped for a few days, to get rid of the smell and it will taste wonderful.

If you are looking for some good Georgia style BBQ, head up to Fresh Air just 10 minutes away. There's a Dollar General close by as well if any amenities are forgotten.

Nice spacious campground. Plenty of tree coverage without issues with branches or roots affecting the camping sites. Site 52 is by far the best one as it gives you the most privacy and the best view of the lake. Second place is for 15, and third place 48. Park rangers and hosts go around the park about 5-6 times a day each. Each camping area (road) has its own gate so it feels very safe. There really isn’t much to do if you are not able to get in the lake. There’s just one hiking trail in the park but while close to campsites, it is disconnected - you have to drive outside the park to get to it. It is a nice, moderate in-and-out, great for hiking or easy mountain biking. There are a few other hiking trails at High Falls Park, which is nearby and has some cute, short, easy trails. Visiting Juliette and Indian Springs downtowns are a great activities. (Juliette was location for Fried Green Tomatoes). We have TMobile and had no bars. Weboost gave us 1-2 bars but very low speeds so we could only get txts, emails without docs, and some calls. Could not tether for computer use. Definitely not a place to work from. Bathhouse near 52 clean but worse shower (singular) of any GA State Park. Tiny, only one hook in entire enclosure, bench is tiny so it barely holds your stuff, not a single hook or shelf in shower to put soap os shampoo. Your clothes, towel and shoes will get wet, as will anything you drop, which will be a lot.

Overall the camping and mountain biking experience was top notch

We both work remotely and had a lot of trouble as cell service (even with booster) is very spotty to nonexistent. We could make phone calls and do basic email but no video calls or live-streaming. Netflix and Roku streaming also unreliable.

Tried to drive into Jackson to find service and while it was better, it still wasn’t great, especially upload speeds were very poor. Drove and parked by I-75 at a truck stop to do video calls from my car to get enough service for upload speeds.

Nice park and easy access to cute town of Jackson. We loved biking around and the lake is pretty! The waterfall is very pretty!

We also commuted ~1 hour into ATL a few times — airport area mostly. Not a terrible drive if you can get around traffic.

Would stay here again but with the expectation that no work is getting done.

This quaint state park is a beautiful getaway with lots to do for campers of all ages (fishing, kayaking, putt-putt, paddle boats, etc). Most of the campsites were shaded with good spacing between most of them. Good access to the lake via public access areas. Although many sites are very close to the lake, there are no real open views of the lake due to the trees and underbrush. Tight access for big rigs but doable. ZERO AT&T cell signal unless you make your way to higher ground. Limited TV reception but free cable TV! 30 amp service only. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bring an empty gallon jug and be sure to get some of the highly prized and famous spring water from the spring house!

I camped here for a week in December while I was waiting to close the sale on my house. The pilot station at the exit does not have propane, and I don't think the local dealers do RV fills. I recommend getting it before you get near the park, or call the local places and check. The best entrance is via Lake Clark , but Google gets it wrong. You want the Lake Clark Rd entrance from Hwy 42 S. If you have an RV, the Lake Clark Rd entrance from Brownlee Rd is gravel and potted - it's suitable for a car though, I used it on multiple occasions to get to Hapeville, Peachtree City, and the grocery store in Jackson. The road up to the office checkin is winding, narrow, and no shoulder. The Spring Rd entrance from Hwy 42 S is EXIT ONLY, so don't plan to pull in there if Google maps tells you to.

The cell phone service was good. I used my Verizon hotspot and was able to stay connected. Hiking is sparse as far as I could tell. There is a moderate trail available near the spring park area, but it wasn't a focus of the park. The picnic area is great, lots of space, tables, grills, and pavilions. One area by the spring, and another area near the reservoir. Great wedding and gathering spot, there was a couple getting married while I was there. Closest town is Jackson. It has the basics and necessities. A nice downtown square. Probably would have better in the spring or fall. Electric hookups included both 30amp and 20amp in the box. I like this because I can charge my EV at camp without routing through the RV system. I don't know if I'll be back, but it's more due to the location than anything I dislike about the park.

I was quite surprised to see that the space between sites was more than I thought it would be. Given that none of the sites have full hook-up, only electric and water, I was pleasantly surprised to see there are sink water dumps quite often within the campground. We had no problem getting our pop-up camper in our spot with enough room for our Armada in front. There were all manner of rigs at the campground, everything from Class A down to a teardrop and they all seemed to have good amount of room. Campground was clean and the people there were marvelous. The staff was quite helpful and the easy availability of wood for campfires made for an easy and wonderful trip for us and our two daughters, 7 and 11. This is a place that we will happily stay at again.
