“Nice park. Far enough from 75 to be quiet and close enough to be quick on and off. ”

Indian Mountain SP has a small, quiet campground and is about 2.5 miles from Interstate 75 north in Jellico, TN; GPS directions were precise and we turned from the main street at the first brown Indian Mountain State Park sign and had no difficulty reaching the park. We stayed one night, arriving late we went directly to our campsite. With the late arrival, we did not get the bathhouse code, but another camper shared the number with us The bathhouse was clean and well-kept. There is a flat, paved walking trail there 1.5 miles around, Frisbee golf, and a small lake with kayak rental. We walked the trail around to stretch our legs after a day of driving and met many pleasant campers and community people along the way. The actual Indian Mountain is behind the park and we did not see any access for hiking. We liked our site 36, paved back-in; 35 also seemed very nice and both were a little larger than the others and had shade. We stopped in the office the next morning to let them know that we came and were now going. The woman working there was friendly and interested in our satisfaction with the park.

This park was great for an overnight stop, just 3 miles off of I-75. As others have mentioned, it has level concrete pads and full hookups, dump station also available. Amenities are located behind the concrete pads: picnic table, fire ring and grill. Some sites on the outside of the loop are quite large with ample grassy areas behind, sites on the inside of the loop share a large common grassy area behind campers. Our outside site was smaller and backed immediately up to a drop off along a stream. Fall color was pretty in the area and it was a nice spot for an evening walk after traveling all day.

Turn at sign for the campground near a big funeral home, as our navigation took us to a street further on and could not make it over the steep railroad tracks, so had to turn around.

Indian Mountain State Park is located on the TN / KY border on I-75. It is a 203 acre State Park that sits on a lake at the base of a mountain. It's pretty new for a state park as it was started in 1971. The lake is beautiful and is apparently stocked with fish. This is a great place to stop if you are traveling on 75 and want to get a campsite. It's about 2.5 miles from the interstate.
There are 47 campsites with 50,30, and 20 amp service. Apparently, all the sites do have sewer hookups which was unexpected. The sites are also paved. They are all pretty nice sites but some are closer together than others. The problem is that the campground isn't very level. Most of the parking pads are fairly level but maybe unlevel front to back. Our site in 35 was a little nose high. There was a small amount of space beside the camper that was also paved. Personally, I don't really care when a pad is paved vs gravel, but I would rather have the pad in front of the camper paved if I had my choice. They do have picnic tables that are on a pad at all sites but they seem to be placed randomly around the site based on where there is a level spot. Ours is actually behind our camper.
There are multiple playgrounds around the area and one of them in the central area of the campground. Some are more updated than others. There are also a couple of pavilions. There is a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a few different short trails.
There is also an area just down the road called rabbit road ????? There were 2-3 primitive sites and a picnic area there. I think these sites are free but you can't fit in there with more than a 15-20 ft trailer at the max.
My preferred sites are 4 H, 3 (firepit right on the lake), 49 H, 8,7, 10, 23, 39,35

Slides and swings for small children in immediate view, but far enough for a quiet afternoon. Paddleboats are a short walk from our site. All Trails shows two loops and an out and back.
Sites are generously spaced and partially shaded.
No WiFi. Good coverage with T-mobile. 4 TV channels.
Would stay longer, but merely stopped here to break up a long drive.
