“From a "local" prospective . . .”

We have a cabin on Priest Lake, not far from this campground. It is on our walking route and we know it well.
Priest Lake is a beautiful lake and this is a very popular campground. The campground has a guard shack that is run by park volunteers. The campground is forested, although in 2013 a big wind storm came though and knocked down a lot of trees. There are basic, electric and full hook up sites. Some sites are more private than others, may sites are big rig friendly. There are also cabins to rent. As of this summer (2021), camping rates have increased. A new feature was also imposed for out of state residents, they pay double, yes double the resident rate. ($24/$48 for standard sites, $30/$60 for electric sites and $32/$64 for full hook up sites). From our observations, it seems that the park has been less full, perhaps due to these higher fees.
The beach is huge and very popular with a roped off swimming area. In the summer people set up shelters and stake out their area. No dogs are allowed on this beach, but there is an off leash dog beach to the west near Indian Creek. There is a boat launch to the east of the swimming area.
The park headquarters are here and there is a small museum, outdoor amphitheater and ranger led activities. The park also runs a cute little camp store with some provisions, souvenirs and scooped ice cream. Fuel can also be purchased here. There is a volleyball court, basketball court and a disc golf course. Near the day use area there is some information on the logging history of the area.
The dump station is at the entrance to the park before the guard shack for no fee. It includes potable water. We do use this dump station.
In the winter there are groomed cross country trails.

Indian Creek is a beautiful spot and is in Priest Lake, Idaho. We spent a few days here last October and its the perfect get away in the woods! You can reserve your spot ahead of time here on reserveamerica.com. This beautiful area is heavily wooded with nature hiking trails around Priest Lake. The most private sites are ones that have no power. Our spot was more open since we wanted full hookups on this trip. There are flush toilets and hot showers at this location. There is a store onsite with food, ice and gift shop. If you need internet, well its not the greatest. The campground wifi had a $10 charge, we paid for it and it didn’t work. We did get a refund for it. Hopefully some improvements will be made on that this year. The town of Coolin about 15 minutes away and the restaurant in the area had the best internet connection if you need it. One day we did drive further north to another campsite called Lion’s Head. This is a first come first served area. Also, if you have a trailer any longer that 25ft, forget it. The spots are tiny! From there we headed to an area by Lion's Head where there are natural rock waterslides. It’s about a 3 mile hike in and you cross a creek. We made it to the creek but didn’t cross it since it was cool and rainy that day. We will try again in the future. So if you are looking for a nice area in North Idaho, we would recommend this location! By the way, you can get cell signal at the beach or with a booster. If it's raining, it will cut out completely.
