Indian Creek Campground MT

We stayed here for one night on our way to northern Idaho last July. I have never encountered mosquito swarms of this magnitude. Immediately upon exiting the car we were eaten alive. We hurried and disconnected and then shuffled our four children into the trailer and proceeded to kill those mosquitoes that had infiltrated our trailer in the few seconds the door was open. We didn’t leave the safety of our trailer for the rest of the evening. We will be traveling through this area again this summer and won’t be staying here!

Easy 30 amp pull through site for our truck/35 ft bumper pull. AT&T cell phone reception was excellent. Bathrooms were clean, shower areas were large. Plenty of trash receptacles. Laundry area was clean & affordable. We were able to fill our propane tanks up.

Easy on/off interstate, 2 gas stations & McDonalds & car wash. Town of Deer Lodge is a short drive & had a couple of grocery stores (we went to Safeway & found everything we needed, decent selection), an Ace Hardware & many small businesses. Ice cream at The Prison Cow was very good!

Only other mention is to take a hike on the adjacent trail. There are a couple of pastures with horses & many deer if you go at dusk!

We arrived late afternoon, on a Wednesday in June. Plenty of pull through sites for an overnight available. Our site was nice and level. Nice grassy sites. No dog run or area to exercise your dog off-leash in the park. The campground is close to a gas station and restaurant, and the road into the campground is good.

HOWEVER, the campground seems to be surrounded by a swampy, almost wetland type area. The mosquitoes were UNBELIEVABLY BAD. Apparently, they do nothing to treat the area for them. We took our dogs out for a potty walk and we were swarmed. I mean you almost couldn't breath because they were so bad. It was so uncomfortable that even if we were not staying for only one night, we would have left the next day.

There is no reason they couldn't do something about the mosquitoes. We were in Arkansas, which is just one big swamp and the mosquitoes weren't as bad as they were here. But Arkansas treats for mosquitoes. It was not a good experience for us at all.

Had two interactions with who I assume is the owner or maintenance Neither was pleasant seems to think he is better than other people and likes to act like a tough guy I would suggest if he wants respect he should give some too. I was off season so cheap rates but no running water, A pull in to fill your holding tank but layout is a joke you can't pull through good luck getting a bigger rig in or out to fill, all facilities like laundry and showers closed. three smaller trash cans pretty much full constantly except on pick up day but don't worry they will fill again quickly since everyone stores up trash while the cans are full.

This place is very clean and well groomed. We were greeted very warmly at check-in. We were traveling home from our trip and only needed to stay one night. I don't have anything negative to say about this place.
I want to review all the negative reviews that I read about any campground.
If the sites are too close together - this isn't real camping, meet your neighbors, they're probably pretty nice people
If the freeway noise is too loud - try camping next to the freeway in a tent. The campground was probably there before the freeway was built.
If their toilets aren't very nice - use your own, unless you're in a tent. If you were camping in a tent you would have to dig your own.
Not enough shade? - Make reservations 6 months ahead in the mountains where everyone else does
Price too high? - Probably because they are working hard to keep it up real nice. Enjoy it.
