Overall Rating

This campground is spectacular! Would definitely recommend others stay here. All of the staff was so nice and accomodating. Vaughn helped us with finding our site as well as our boat rental. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We stayed in site 11 which doesn’t have any neighbors on one side. It also had a large fire pit and lots of patio space around the RV. There are also cabins and larger fire pits around the campground to be able to meet new people. There’s is a food truck and a game area outside with a pool table, foos ball, and corn hole. Everyone was very friendly and we will definitely be back. Lastly the campground was extremely dog friendly. They seemed to be allowed in all the areas.

Overall Rating

Idlewild is no longer a fish camp - asphalt roads, paver block RV sites (50" deep back-in), a swimming pool with a huge patio, cafe, firepits, and many doggy pots conveniently located. There are currently 14 sites but I heard of plans to expand to several dozen in the adjoining open field. Curiously, for a new higher-end RV park, there are at least a couple of rigs that have been here a very long time. There is an airboat tour service on site but book ahead as they are busy. Thankfully these boats have mufflers - many private airboats don't. Paddlers have easy access to the lake. I only stayed 1 night but the monthly rate works out to about $50/night. My site 6 had a bit of a downward slope front to back but most of the other sites appeared fairly level and quite wide. Sites have a grill, fire pit with wood, and picnic table. The hookups were conveniently located and the entire RV area is well-shaded with moss-draped trees. No need for solar or Starlink here.

There are several nice perks like free ice and laundry, blazing fast WiFi, minimum 100 Mbps down (usually closer to 200), and 30+ Mbps upload! YES, you can stream! T-Mobile service was erratic (shifting between 5G and LTE but neither very fast) & AT&T 20 Mbps down & 4 Mbps up.

Swamp Fever Airboat Adventures operates out of this park. This is a super fun tour as it is a unique, but truly "Floridian" experience. They let you interact with a live alligator and take you through a protect/preserved floodplain forest that showcases what Florida was like before developers took over.

Cell service is not great at this location. However, Idlewild has installed a robust WIFI system throughout the park to make up for it. If your phone does WiFi calling, you will be just fine. The WiFi password is Fishcamp2022. (no period at the end) Make a note of this before you arrive.

The WiFi system takes into account that all RV guests will be steaming TV. 4K streaming has been disabled, but the steaming speeds are more than sufficient for HD streaming.
