“NOT FOR TRAILERS!”

Overall Rating

This campground is up in the pines, the campground is quiet and well-kept; most of the spots have flat tent pads, fire rings, and nice separation. There were four other sites being used and we hardly heard anybody. The first few spots are on the creek side, but the creek is about 100 ft away. There is water, but it is not potable. Vault toilets are clean. No cell service. This is not really a place for trailers. We have a 23 foot trailer, pulled by an extended cab long bed truck. There are only a couple of sites that we fit. And the drive there . . .

Getting there
We drove in from Etna, which is east of the campground. This route takes you over a steep mountain pass, which was freshly graveled going up, and ridiculously steep going down. It took about 2.5 hours to get there, with a stop at the top for an amazing view, which is the best part of that drive. We stopped again coming down, because our brakes were smoking. So that was fun.

Leaving was slightly less treacherous, not nearly as steep, but many sections of the road are extremely narrow. Did I mention we were towing a trailer? This route takes you through Sawyer's Bar and Somes Bar, neither of which have any services.

Overall, a nice campground if you're going for some peace and quiet, and you're sleeping in a tent.
