Road to campground is very winding and you better pay attention. Stay at site 38 - electric only.
Very close to the road BUT no one drives up or down after 6 or 7 pm. Quite night with AMAZING sky.

Stayed at #50 site, directly across from ranger station. Lovely lean-to building with fireplace and picnic table, plus a very nice vaulted toilet adjacent to Little Tesuque Creek. Heaven to wake up and go to sleep to. Beware the skier traffic, cars usually start coming up the mountain as early as 6am and on the weekends they trickle down all night. Only one incident with a drunk person so far, they were gone by morning. Boondocking in F-150, 4x4 recommended in winter weather for icy winding roads. Will definitely be coming back.

Dump station had the water locked up at 6:30am. Irritating.

Were booked for a site (#46) for two months, then a week before recv'd notice from NMSP that it was subject to 24-7 generator noise. Not only that, it was a big gravel parking spot on a high hill with the shelter & table yards away from the electrical post! Camp hosts were terrific and let us take #42 next to them, vacated early by another camper. The spots are tight, there is just this one loop of electrical sites in the park and the busy road runs just a few yards past all the campsites. But esp in the morning it was green and cool and peaceful and we were glad to be spared the generator noise of the original booking. No cell service, no dump, no water, lots of campfire buffs (even in June) filling the air with smoke. But it's closest to Santa Fe.

There was plenty of traffic during the day hours on the road, but nothing at night, so we slept well. Down side was there was no water or bathrooms nearby (might have been some across the road, but we didn't go look). No cell service at all either. Pretty good inexpensive spot for a short stay.

The area is beautiful!! This is dry camping which we do all the time, but the only water hydrant available is at the ranger station which is on a hill with very very tight parking around it. Not trying to sound negative, just want to let folks know they may not be pulling their rigs in to fill tanks. We originally reserved spot 37 which should have fit our rig, but it was way unlevel and would have been impossible to get into for us. We were able to switch to site 47 which was honestly very lovely and apart from the main loop so nice and private. The few ele spots (we didn't have or need one) are powered by a large commercial type generator so a little odd. The pit toilet in the main loop was very clean, but it was far from our site, if that's a concern for you. The dump station also is at the entrance to the park and pretty tight width wise due to the gates on either end if you have a lot of tail swing.

Each spot contained grass, trees, a fire pit with firewood, and a picnic table. Electric was provided and water was available at the ranger station. No dump station was available. There were lots of hiking trails in the area. Wi-fi and cell service were non-existent. Location is 8.5 miles from downtown Santa Fe. We made a reservation on-line which required a $4 processing fee, in addition to the usual $14 nightly fee.

I was here last winter when Santa Fe itself was very pleasant yet up in the mountains, about 8" of snow had just fallen. I believe I ended up in the loop for sites 37-46 as it was the only area open at the time. And I assume the other campgrounds up and down the road were closed as well due to the snow. Most of the remaining sites in this linear park are in the woods and apparently, from other reviewers, on unpaved roads and not in great repair in some cases. But I loved this section. Sites were paved are level, nice picnic table and electrical hookup to keep things warm. It wasn't that cold, but cool enough that it took several days for the snow to melt. It was just under 8 miles to get from the campground to my brother's house in central SF. It was great that he had his old RAV4 to loan me for the trips back and forth. SF was great, from downtown, the farmers market, and galleries. Definitely a place I'd like to visit again and explore further.
