By Sunday night we were the only ones in the lot.
If your a sweets person check out The Sugar Shack in Reedsport. I’ve traveled the country and this is the best.
If your into mushrooms you can buy them or sell them in North Bend. We got Chanterelles for $15/pound. This is the season. Hannah and Perry.
Tackenich, 2 choice of hikes. A little ride but worth it.
Don’t miss Cape Aragon, gardens, seals and different choice of hikes.

This is primarily a place for people with their off road vehicle. If you're into that kind of thing this is a great place on the Oregon coast to play in sand dunes. Just on the other side of the hill is the coast right next to us is access for the ORV access to the beach.

Turns out that anyone with proper permits and a 4WD rig is welcomed to use the ORV area, which includes both coastal dunes and the beach itself (north of the campground). Quiet beach to the south, accessible on foot from the CG. Not the
quietest place during the day, but folks wrapped it up around 10pm. We only stayed one night on the way to California, but will be back to explore.

Most of the folks here are here with their OHV's and hitting the dunes so it gets pretty noisy during the day. On the flip side, it's a short walk over the dunes to actually have your feet in the sand. For the price (and the Interagency pass discounts available) it's hard to beat, even if it is just a parking lot.
Verizon has a strong signal but I'm guessing with everyone else here trying to use it I had better luck with the weaker AT&T signal.
Parking spots are deep and wide as many folks are in here with Class A's towing trailers. Definitely big rig friendly.
I have seen Sherriff, US Dept of Ag, and Oregon Dept of Ag patrol through on a fairly frequent basis.

We arrived on a Sunday and it was packed but by Monday night there were only 4 RV’s in the lot.
The CG host was gone Monday night and someone took advantage of this and set off fireworks, which are banned.
Lots of places to get supplies in Coos Bay.
Lots of hikes especially toward Cape Arago.
Cell coverage was great we streamed movies.
Due to COVID you have to make reservations but we made them while in the lot checking out sites.
The cost is $25/night but we have a senior discount card.
There are spaces for day use and this place is very busy on weekends.
We had sunshine every day which is unusual for this time of year in Coos Bay. Great solar but generators are allowed.

I imagine the vibe would be different if a lot of people were camping here.
Verizon, ATT and T-Mobile all good enough to stream and work on the internet.

Perrimeter sites have fire rings and picnic tables. The ocean is just over the berm, so you hear the waves crashing all night. Good sandy beach for walking.
