“Be sure to know what weather to expect: Freezing in the winter!”

Freezing in winter
This is a small campsite with three spots. The first spot is good for groups, with more room for vehicles/tents and two picnic tables instead of the typical one table. This spot is Before the pit toilet building. The two smaller spots are further down the road past the toilet (not too far, comfortably far).
I was pretty miserable camping out of my hatchback. I froze my a** off!! This site is deep in a valley, so the sun sets even early than you might expect. I was literally running to get camp "shut down" enough to hide in my car by 5PM. So unless you have a rig spacious enough to "hang out" in, this is not a good winter site IMHO.
Critters: The only life I saw was ground squirrels. They were cute, but way too interested in my car engine (I think I heard them gnawing and found paw prints all over in there), as well as myself (They would come within a foot, when I had no food, and I would have to shoo them off)
Human activity: One day a whole caravan of 15 or so ATVs came through, moderate speed, friendly, no complaints. All day/night truckers go through the valley back and forth from a mine, deeper yet down that washboard road. The road is far enough away from camp that it was not annoying to me, but it may be a detractor if you want to only be surrounded by nature. My site had a fair amount of trash in the fire pit (and second rock fire pit that I did not touch), and I took. care of that, but the others appeared pristine, and I did not see any trash anywhere else, so I am not complaining.
octavie would stay here again

“Remote stargazing”

We did not actually stay here, but stumbled on this site when exploring the area. As I couldn't find much about it on the internet, I wanted to give my insight into it.
It is a very remote site, but seems to be accessible from the south, as outlined in the BLM link. The road seemed good enough for an RV or trailer. I would not attempt to get here from Tecopa with an RV or trailer as the road from the west is very rough.
The sight is clean and there is a vault toilet.
I think this would be a terrific sight for stargazing as there are no towns close by. There are also a lot of old mines for exploring in the hills nearby.
No cell service.
