We stayed here as a meeting place for the family coming from the southern direction. The campground has many sections. One section, closest to the ocean is light on trees. We were further in and had great shade tress and some separation between sites. Many sites are what I would call "pairs" in that there are 2 sites very close to each other, and then the next site is somewhat separated. Ideal for families like ours coming in 2 RV's. I saw one site set up with 3 parking/hookup areas in a triangle (sites 62-62, I think) with a central patio area, ideal if you had 3 families all coming together. If you were given that site without being in a group, it would feel rather close. Check the map, and request the more isolated sites if you are traveling in one vehicle.
Many sites are pull-through.
There is a gorgeous tent-only area in a valley (the Bear's Meadow) behind the RV sites. Tent sites are nestled in the trees, mostly isolated from neighboring sites. A little hike to the facilities from there, but probably worth it.
Overall, the grounds are well maintained. Staff is helpful and friendly. Facilities were kept very clean, and functioning. I met a few long-term residents, but most sites are vacationers, like we were.
The area is isolated, overall, but you can go to town if the campground store does not have what you need. You are a 20-30 minute drive from Gold Beach. The beaches near the campground are easily walked to via a path, but you will cross Hwy 101, no path underneath or bridge over it. The local roads are very low traffic, so you can do a 15-20 miles biking loop through some hills and back, easily.
As a T-Mobile user, wifi turned out to be essential. It was a great signal at our site. Sufficient speed for doing emails and basic surfing. Not sure about streaming.

We arrived at 7 PM and the office was closed. Our registration was taped to the front door. Caution: if you arrive after 10, you have to dry camp in the lower lot until the morning. They don't want you to disturb the other campers or try to find your spot in the dark. Nice space with a blacktop slab for the trailer (mine was level overall), some closer than others but also there are larger spaces down in a grass meadow. Tent camping is allowed too in various spots and in a huge meadow at the back of the property. There were also elk that sleep in the tall grass at night. Water, sewer, electric are all fine but make sure you have an extra length of sewer hose, mine barely reached. Showers and bathrooms were a bit rustic but nice with good water pressure. Breezy at the campground and windy and cold at the beach when we were here but beautiful. Beach was a 10 minute walk (with a sprint across the 101 highway). Make sure you drive to Gold Beach and visit Flowers by the Sea for great fudge and Rogue River Apple Works for homemade jams and jelly`s (make sure to ask for a tour of the factory).

A path to a wonderful section of beach provides a different type of experience. Some sites have a view of the ocean. We loved our grassy, shaded spot tucked away in the back all by ourselves overlooking the meadow. Staff was great and very friendly. Restaurant opens Friday through Sunday night for dinner. Highly recommend the ribs. Will be back here if we pass this way again!!!

I was disappointed by the site we were in because it was on dusty dirt that they had thrown hay on top of. I totally understand that it's difficult to grow a lawn with vehicles driving on it, but then it makes more sense to put down gravel. We ended up with dust on everything inside and out. Even our little dog was dusty! lol
Additionally, we had a very long pull thru site and when the camper next door arrived, the campground put them even with us and we could see right into their camper. Since their space was very long as well, it seems that they could have put them at the other end giving both of us a little privacy.
Finally, since our space was so long, other campers in back of us seemed to feel it was acceptable to park in our space along with us. Every morning we came out to find other vehicles parked next to ours.
The location is great, easy access to the beach, other coastal towns and even the California Redwoods!
We ate in the restaurant and the food and service was VERY good!

Love this place! The staff treats you like dear friends and the food and drinks are fabulous! Laundry is cheap and the space is clean and efficient. Showers are a little old school, but the water is hot and water pressure is good. We normally don't spend this much on camping, but this was a real treat.

“A nice park and great food.”
Reviewed 6/10/2017
We stayed here 8 or 9 years ago, so we don't remember the dates, site number or rate. We just happened to be there for Oktoberfest, and had a great time. The site we had was a bit rustic, but secluded with full hook ups. Our reason to be there was to take the mail boat up the Rogue River, but the RV park was a fun place to stay.
