Reservations through AZ State Parks would be advisable as the park was full both nights.

There is plenty of space between sites. During the week were here in late November and early December, there were at most 5 to 10 other campers in this large campground. Gusty wind hit a few times, but not enough to worry about. The water at the sites is turned off from mid-November until the spring, but there is a water point at the dump station near the campground entrance. Definitely go to the visitor center and talk to the rangers, they are incredibly knowledgeable about the Hopi who lived in the pueblos here almost a thousand years ago.

We stayed here in our 38' motorhome with toad, we had plenty of room in our paved, pull thru spot. We had water and electric, no sewer. Easy checkin at the visitor center. The park is full of ruins and history and wild burros! Of course the town of Winslow was fun and historic as well.

What a gem! Easy access from I-40 to a well-laid out natural desert campground. Beautiful night sky. Level site with good hookups and beautiful natural landscaping. We enjoyed the museum and Pueblo ruins at the visitor center. The bath house needs immediate attention/renovation.

The good: big sky country with lots of stars, good camping neighbors, interesting location with ruins and petroglyphs, excellent park staff in the visitor center, good selection at the store. Overall, the CG is clean and pleasant.
The bad: the power and water for site 20 is at the back end of the pull through where there is a tree growing. I had to take forever parking and re-parking to get into the right zone for my power cable to work and I tapped the back end of my trailer on the tree (without damage, thankfully). The pull through advantage of the site was negated by the need to squeeze into the corner of this pretty sloped site. You can see the highway from site 20 and hear some noise but I didn't notice it very much.
The ugly: the shower rooms are in severe disrepair and smell like sewage from an apparent plumbing leak. There were only two shower rooms open with a single shower inside. One had tiles falling off and the exterior is showing signs of water damage to the wall board material. The lighting didn't work in the other shower so they were both unusable for me and my children. Additionally, there is a medium brown colored wild donkey, in the park, that has left front hoof problems and needs care. She came to the front fender of my truck and started tapping her messed up hoof on the pavement and shaking her head as if to say, "Please help me, this mangled hoof is killing me." Poor creature. I reported these two issues to the reservation website contact email. I hope they remedy these issues soon.

As you can see I made the reservation on Memorial Day weekend. We were so busy I didn’t review the confirmation email until the next week. The agent mistakingly made the reservation for May 27, 2018.
When I called to point this out, ( after the 27th passed), I was informed they wouldn’t make that type of mistake and it was my fault. Funny!!! When they made the reservation they put the wrong name on the reservation. Not even close to my name. They excused themselves for that mistake but not for the one that cost me $35.00.
As I said before BE VERY VERY CAREFUL MAKING RESERVATIONS!!!
