This is our type of place. Wide open sky and grounds. Respectful, quiet guests. History. Wild donkeys and rabbits. Nothing fancy, just your basic needs fulfilled. Very happy with our stay.

First time at this state park 3 miles from Winslow. It's very quiet and has expansive views of the surrounding area and mesas. But, that also makes it pretty wide open to strong spring windstorms. We were lucky to get an extra night in mid-April to sit out a Red Flag Warning. BUT that meant we had to move all 3 days we were there to 3 different sites. We noticed a lot of others having to make the mid-morning move. Maybe reservation system needs updating. Otherwise, sites are nicely spaced, but showers and many picnic tables are way way overdue for replacing/remodel. The 2 showers had tile coming off the walls and floors and peeling walls. Some of the metal picnic tables were rusted and had jagged edges pulled up looking definitely dangerous. Surprisingly popular for being in the middle of nowhere, so make sure you have reservations booked. All 3 nights they had Campground Full signs out. May hear some road and train noise depending on site/loop.

I was traveling from southern AZ headed east, and wanted a one night stay near Winslow. The campground seemed busy, meaning all sites occupied. It was peaceful and clean. My site was maybe a little tight for my rig. But I still fit. I did needed to trim a couple of small branches off a tree to put my port slide out. I choose a water only site to save a little money since I have a on board solar system. I lived in Winslow once upon another lifetime ago. When I went to the visitor's center to check in, the ranger there turned out to be someone I knew from my younger years in Winslow. So I got to have a nice little catchup visit. Then I went to Winslow and spent the afternoon with an old high school friend and his father who are like family to me.
Homolovi has some great hikes and sites to visit. I wished I'd have had time to enjoy more of what was there to enjoy. But the purpose of my stay was to see my friend, and stop over for the night before continuing my trek.
I'd stay here again. If/when I do, I hope to stay a little longer to enjoy more of what Homolovi has to offer

With water and electric - and a dump station at the exit - this place has everything you need. Paved sites and showers. I'd definitely come here again. Would stay longer but I have my next booking coming up.

The water is turned off at the sites during winter, but they tell you that on the website, on the confirmation email and when you arrive so if you don't get the memo it's on you. There is a waterfill onsite and a dump station. The park is pretty small but we enjoyed the local history and walking the trails with the burros. The sunsets were pretty great. The views are expansive. The internet was not great and working from campsite was a challenge. Verizon says 4 bars BUT it was 2 mbps up and 5 down. Some people complained of the trains but we really only noticed one our first night. You can see the highway but the noise doesn't reach. The only real complaint was the picnic tables are way over due for a rebab or replacement.

We stayed here October 30-Nov 1. We had heard from friends that this was a great place to stay and it did not disappoint. Our original plan was to stay one night but the prospect of visiting the Homolovi pueblo ruins and visiting the defunct Painted Desert County Park led us to add another night. We had a lovely site with a gorgeous sunset. We had a broken water faucet, but when I called they had someone come right out and fix it. The park had a lot of turnover--clearly a stop over site or a few-day-layover-site. The showers and bathrooms were very clean. The Homolovi ruins were fascinating. We wouldn't hesitate to make this a multi-day stopover again as Winslow does have grocery stores etc for re-provisioning. It's an easy on and off for I-40 and you can see it off in the distance but we couldn't hear it.

As you can see I made the reservation on Memorial Day weekend. We were so busy I didn’t review the confirmation email until the next week. The agent mistakingly made the reservation for May 27, 2018.
When I called to point this out, ( after the 27th passed), I was informed they wouldn’t make that type of mistake and it was my fault. Funny!!! When they made the reservation they put the wrong name on the reservation. Not even close to my name. They excused themselves for that mistake but not for the one that cost me $35.00.
As I said before BE VERY VERY CAREFUL MAKING RESERVATIONS!!!
