Holbrook Parish Park Campground

This is a fun little campground. The spaces are close together, but I've never had a problem with any neighbors here (stayed here three times now). There's a nice lake, playground for little folks, restrooms with hot showers, trash cans, water, electric, fishing available. And only $12 a night. Helluva deal.

As I said eating shrimp and crab gumbo in Lake Charles I called and booked this site for Thursday night, only 30 minutes away. The place is full of tall trees and swamp scenes. It helped the cold front had blown through and the bugs were down. Site could not be better including 110V and water. Park ranger checked to see that I had reservation and was all good to go. Beautiful place, I would definitely come back.

All the conveniences - full hookup, nice bath houses, laundry room - but no trails or non-water activities. The price wasn't listed anywhere I could find so I was surprised when I arrived that it was so much more than other parish parks in the state. I would have been better off going to a laundromat and staying at one of the others or going to a state park. The hookup in my site was backwards, meaning it was right beside the fire ring and picnic table, so I had to drape my cord and hose under the RV. It was a decent park for what it was designed for (boaters) but not what I wanted. Most sites pretty crammed together too, especially for al the space they have.
