There are shady sites, but we were given a site in the direct sunlight with no shade for two days. I used an impossible amount of bug repellent but was eaten alive anyway. We stayed here in the fall of 2019. The owners were such nice people and the view from our site what you would expect to see in the northern reaches of CBI. Our site was easy to get into and the campground was uncrowded. Of course, we had oysters at the store and they were delish. We used this location as a base to explore Meat Cove and the other towns along the north coast. You can kayak in the water near the campground and the owners can help you with boat rental. Definitely our favorite stay in CBI!

This campground is by far our favorite! If you travel to the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, this is the perfect place to call home base. It is at the top of the trail, tucked away outside the town of Dingwall, Nova Scotia. It's close to Cape Breton Highlands National Park for hiking and biking, and has sweeping Ocean views as well as a footpath down to a super beach. It's the most laid back, beautiful campground we've camped at so far. The campsites go from tent sites, to full and partial hookups, as well as cabins to rent. The sites range from meadow overlooking the ocean, to more private sites with lots of trees. Ours was very level, as they all looked pretty good in that respect. Very clean washrooms/showers and laundry facilities. The camp office has high speed wireless, but we had no trouble with our internet access. The office also boasts an oyster market! Every day after hiking we would walk down to the office and order a dozen oysters and a cold beer or two and have a chat with the friendliest camp owners ever. Or, you can have them cook you up a couple of lobsters and take back to your campsite to enjoy. I really didn't want to leave this jewel of a place!. The Cabot Trail is a fantastic area to explore and this is the best campground to stay at hands down! We will be back...as often as possible!
