We chose this place because we like the country/small towns much more than the city, but enjoy a night out here and there. We wanted to explore Memphis and this was close by but on a lake. Here’s what we found when we arrived:
Cons:
1. 30 ft dumpster (the only one) is overflowing and there’s trash all around. I’d guess it hasn’t been dumped in over 6 months.
2. About 1/3 of the spots have broken down trailers with all their stuff under and around them. The campground is supposedly 14 day max, but this is definitely not the case.
3. Dogs off leash more than not. Not just at campsites. All kinds of dogs from small to large.
4. No identifiable host or staff. We still haven’t checked in. We’ve been here 4 days.
5. Trash in our campsite - a lot of it.
6. Pothole gravel strips where (it seems) speed bumps were removed which we had to drive our trailer super slowly over, and many folks driving fast through the campground.
Pros:
1. It’s quiet at night.
2. Full hookup
We reduced our stay from 14 days to 7 and have been staying in our trailer when here. We normally take morning walks and explore at each stop. Not this one. If we weren’t working from our trailer, we’d have left after day 1.

We were on site 18, and I think it may be the best one. The beach is clean and good for walking. Only issue is the ants. Tiny little ants that crawl up you Jack legs, water hose and anything else that gives them access from the ground. They were dealt with buy spraying all access points outside with ant killer. Come prepared, or buy some in Hernando.

This may be normal for Mississippi humidity, not used to it as an AZ girl. Campfire rings were not cleaned regularly as they usually are in COE CGs. Some of the sites got pretty wet after rain so watch for low lying areas. Beach was closed, not sure why. Rarely saw staff or rangers. Pulled in & drove to my reserved site nothing on post & no one came by to insure that I was legit. It's close enough to Memphis to drive in & sweet town of Hernando had all your shopping needs. Check out newly opened Area 51 icecream. Yum!

Very nice place within an easy drive from Memphis. Most spaces are spread out and some on the water. Sewer at most sites as well. We will definitely be back. We had 5 bar ATT service.

Nice camp! Off the main highway. Teas is kept far away from the sites. Serene quiet place. Great full hook ups. Lots of flies and noticeable mosquitos. Bathrooms and showers are great! Air conditioned and clean! Very spotty cell service (t mobile).

I think they just installed sewer in one lakefront loop and will do the other loop this year (it's closed now). Lots of recently pruned mature trees and plenty of room between sites. No camp host but saw ranger cruise through a coupla times. No guard shack. Just fill out form and pay the 'iron ranger'. We felt safe. Bathrooms dated but fully functional. Some tables on wrong side of trailer, but not a big deal. Bad cell great ota tv. I give 4 stars because I don't think a true 5 star exists at less than $40, which is the most I want to pay.

Nice camping spot. Pad was level and had full hookups. Most of the campground was closed in order to install septic to the sites. Cost reflects 50% discount for America the Beautiful Senior Pass. Very clean and well kept as are all the COE campgrounds.

“Just updating the price”
noted 7/30/2021
I did not stay here, but wanted to update the price. The price for camping in the Summer (2021) is: $24
You can reserve a site here: https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233507
noted 1/17/2020
Drove by on 1/17/2020 and the campground was closed due to significant storm damage. Looks like it might be at least a month or two before it is all cleaned up. Several trees down and homes damaged in the area from tornadoes and high winds on 1/11/2020
