Lots of first come open spots earl but was almost full by 3. Lots to do in just the park. First class wine tasting in surrounding area. Giant redwoods are a must see.

Probably a half dozen campers in Azalea and less in Wolverine. Every site looked good and all the ones for RVs seemed pretty level. Restrooms were clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The trails were great. The hermit’s dwellings were interesting. The redwoods in the Hendy grove loop trails were some of the biggest.

Sites are first-come first-serve early in the season, and the campground was nearly empty when we arrived, and remained mostly empty through the week. Excellent Verizon service!

Most sites are in the trees so good luck with solar and satellite. Bathroom and pay showers were clean. Camp host was friendly and helpful. Some sites are gravel but ours was muddy, it rained most of the time we were here. Great hiking on easy trails. Definitely worth the drive in.

A beautiful quiet place in the woods with sites well-spaced and good for tents and trailers. We camped in a small trailer for one night. The bathrooms were not heated but the showers were hot. Some nice hikes nearby.

This is a beautiful park located between two redwood groves on the Navarro River. You have a choice of finding that perfect camping site at the Azalea Campground or Wildcat Campground. As there are less than 50 sites at each campground, park rangers and camp hosts highly recommend reservations during the summer months. We visited the campground in mid May and there were less than a dozen campers staying within the park. Very nice and very private.
We camped in the Azalea Campground as sites seemed to be more level. Both campgrounds featured many sites that will easily accommodate rigs up to the maximum length allowed, 35 foot. Restrooms and showers were cleaned every morning, so facilities were excellent. Although the park was empty, the hosts still came by every evening to sell firewood. The trail systems within the park offers many choices, all pretty easy walking throughout the redwoods. The Discovery Trail is a very good first hike to explore and get a up close and personal with the park.
Although the campground is adjacent to the Navarro River, only swimming and kayaking is allowed. No fishing within Hendy Woods State Park as Department of Fish & Game has set aside a stretch of water designated as spawning habitat.

Stayed here for 3 days and loved the two quiet campground loops (it was midweek). The drive out Highway 128 from 101 takes you through tons of wineries if you're interested in tasting and even past the Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville. We did the short hike through Big Hendy Grove which reminded us a lot of Calaveras Big Trees except there were coastal redwoods rather than sequoias. Nice to learn a bit more about the difference. Another day we went down to the Navarro River to the swimming hole just under the bridge near the entrance to the park and then drove into Boonville for some groceries, gas and a good meal with some local beers. The park is a great stopover on your way out to the coast, the last section running through an incredible tunnel of massive redwoods on either side of the road. A mini Avenue of the Giants!
