The surprise hit was the pizza and breakfast restaurant on site which we took advantage of to save time. Food was pretty good. Nice general store with all the necessities and helpful staff that suggested a better route to Badlands for us. Park is very clean and well maintained.
Shade is very limited and it was hot in July, but that’s our only criticism.

All of the hosts were super helpful, and very friendly, which set just the right tone. Our site was level and plenty wide for a 36ft Class A. Easy access to (and a great base for) Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Badlands National Park. We relaxed the first evening with a terrific pizza and beer at the event center, with live karaoke. Meant to visit again for live music in the evenings, but we were too busy out spotting wildlife. Only drawback was truck noise from the highway, but it wasn't enough even to keep a light sleeper like me awake. Excellent Starlink connection.
Would absolutely stay again.

The campground is neat and conveniently located. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The road noise could be a nuisance at times but not a deal breaker for this trip.
We would stay again but also would like to try others farther in the woods.

The grass has not developed in area next to coach. Very clumpy and hard to walk on and worried either i or my wife would trip anytime walking on it. Other than that the facilities were first rate with very polite and helpful staff. We were there for 2 weeks in a 43’ motorhome towing.

They have a restaurant on site, we only ordered breakfast and ate it in our camper but it was delicious.
It is situated right next to a highway but the noise didn’t bother us too much.
It is also very close to all of the attractions (Mount Rushmore, wind cave etc.)
Overall a great stay!

Site 226. FHU pull through. Water, electric (50A), & sewer. All utilities placed nicely and worked fine. Close to the highway so noise was very loud during the day and quite noticeable during the overnight hours.
Nice spacing between sites, picnic table, fire pit/grill and a bit of grass.
Interior roads are gravel, site pad is gravel, reasonably level, about 2 and a half inches left/right. Front to back very good.
Advertised wi-fi worked great, cable worked well, several network channels plus some Site movies channels. Verizon 4G had 3 bars.
Bathhouse clean, laundry (3 locations available) clean.
Breakfast and nightly food available, certain nights have live music.

Staff and volunteers very friendly. Laundry facilities in every building. Dog park, pool and general store. Perfect for what we were doing. We planned on staying two nights but booked an extra night right before we were supposed to check out with no problems. Had to put the 30' pole up to get good internet for work but the park wifi worked great for streaming. A bit pricey but isn't everything these days....

We stayed at Heartland RV Park & Cabins in Hermosa, South Dakota for three weeks (6-26 September 2020). This is a very nice park with great ambiance, nice appearance, well maintained vegetation, clean facilities, friendly staff, and great location. The roads and sites are well maintained and level gravel. Each site has an illuminated post with the site number that provides lighting at night for hooking up and disconnecting. Spacing between sites is slightly wider than many RV campgrounds and parks. Water pressure is good and the water has no smell odor or objectionable taste. Unfortunately, we do not recommend this campground and would not stay in the future. Wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing is a respect for others that minimizes the transmission of Covid-19 to campers. Not a single employee at Heartland RV Park & Cabins wore a face mask or maintained social distancing. Although WiFi is provided free, it is a woefully inadequate system. Heartland RV Park & Cabins provides clear notice, the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size of the network is not designed or intended for online gaming, streaming video, torrents, and video chat. Unfortunately, that notice certainly understates the usefulness of the system. We work as we travel and that work is dependent upon consistent WiFi connection for e-mails, data exchange, and general employment communications. Slow WiFi is frustrating, but usable. Systems that consistently and repeatedly drop the user off line, as is experienced with WiFi at Heartland RV Park & Cabins, is useless. This issue is not insufficient WiFi network range. Signal strength is not an issue when most campers are sleeping. i.e. the wee hours of the night. Neither is the lack of reliability of the Heartland RV Park & Cabins WiFi system due to interference with WiFi network signals. Moving around the park does not change the issue of dropping out. It appears Heartland RV Park & Cabins resets their system, dropping all users off line, whenever a preset number of users is exceeded or whenever a preset bandwidth usage is exceeded.
