“Very pleasant campground at a reasonable price”

Reviewed Apr 22, 2019

Overall Rating

We stayed here two nights at the Washburn section and were very pleased with everything. NF toilets were clean, sites were fairly level and spaced enough apart for privacy. Water spigots were easy to find, and there is a dump station. Showers were not available in the Washburn area so we used our own. Our neighbors were not noisy, and... more

“A lil pricey but a great site”

Reviewed Mar 19, 2019

We were a bit surprised at the price (35$ with a 7.99$ reservation fee for a tent site) but found the site to be just what we wanted for our time in the area. The campground has plenty of trash and recycling bins, bathrooms, and coin showers. We didn’t realize it when we booked but our site was right next to a trash bin, so our first n... more

Not our first time here. Paved sites. No hook ups but has water station and a dump site. Stayed in the lower camp. Little to no cell service. Fire pits and tables. Bath rooms and coin opp showers. Bring quarters. Quiet enough at night to hear the waves crash. Some road noise during the day.

“Best Dry Camping Location Yet”

Reviewed Dec 12, 2018

Overall Rating

We stayed at the dry campground just a little farther inside of the San Simeon Park. It's called the Washburn Campground. That's where you get the $20 / night rate. ($18 / night for seniors) Very well maintained and good level pads. Enough space between that you don't feel crowded. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The area ... more

Good place to stay for Hearst Castel and Sea Lion viewing area. We Stayed one night by showers $35 and the second night dry camp area $20 both are good but for me I liked dry camp more all you have to do is drive over to showers went you need one. Not a lot I can add many reviews just we had a good time.

“Quiet during the week”

Reviewed Apr 21, 2018

As others have said, this is a great place, close to the ocean. Sites are level and decent sized. Some are open to the sunlight and others under the trees, so take your pick. Generator times are weird, 10-8. Only had cell service with the booster.

We arrived here on Sat afternoon in Feb and the place was almost full. We we’re lucky to get a spot. The Sunday night the same park was almost deserted. So the first night was noisy, second night peacefully quiet. From the campsite the sound of the surf. This is a great location. Close to Hearst Castle which is amazing, also a short... more

I was at first disappointed in the campground. They seemed a little unorganized and the campground was still overgrown, I guess a little due to the very wet winter. During my stay the rest rooms and showers were closed. Sad because they looked fairly new. Maybe it was due to the water shortage. There is some road noise from Pacific Coa... more
