Nomad Reign RV would stay here again

“a nice two day layover for some critical R&R”

Overall Rating

Hot springs have become our new addiction. Enough so that we again altered our travel plans, cancelled another reservation, and decided to spend two nights in the type of RV park we abhor just so we could spend hours dipping and soaking in additional Colorado hot springs. The campsites are all on top of each other, no privacy, but just a short fifty yard walk to the hot tubs and showers. AT&T cell service was a suitable two bars, 30 amp service worked great, the sewer and water connections were full hookup, and the sites were tight, but clean. The 30 amp hookup insured the proper recharge of our batteries that I managed to drain in the shady East Fork due to another addiction we call popcorn night that relies on the use of the microwave. Not only did I drain the batteries but we went without our beloved popcorn for two nights in a row as the batteries never got enough direct sun to recover. We paid $47 per night and there are no senior discounts probably because most of the guests are generally seniors.

Healing Waters Resort and Spa has a swimming pool large enough for serious lap swimmers, a large hot tub in the rear of the property, shaded by trees and private, as well as adult-only clothes-optional hot tubs in gender-restricted indoor areas. The indoor tubs are the hottest and rarely is anyone in there with you. The outdoor tub is the most popular and overcrowding was never an issue. Children have to be accompanied by an adult, and hot tubs do not appear to be popular with kids. The grounds and rv park are kept very clean. The establishment has obviously been around for years, but they take good care of it.

Eating out at the Lost Cajun restaurant provided a pretty severe change in our diet as it was very hard to pass up a genuine Cajun gumbo and this restaurant never disappointed the three consecutive days we visited it. The restaurant sits on the main drag of town on the other side of the San Juan River about a four block walk from Healing Waters.

The RV sites will be closed at the end of this year for facility upgrades and renovations so the resort will no longer provide RV camping after this year. Too bad, as this was a nice two day layover for some critical R&R.
