We showed up on a Friday night needing a two day stay on one of the last of the summer weekends. Fortunately a couple of reservations were canceled so we had two sites from which to choose. As we drove through the campground we were delighted to discover that most sites were well shaded by tall hardwood trees. The lake looks clear and inviting and many folks are fishing, boating or riding other power crafts.
The two downsides are the sites have reliable electric power but NOT water hookups. And. the only shower house is near the entrance which is over half a mile up a hill from our campsite. For two or three nights even in the hot summer weather this lovely campground will work very well for us (two mid 70 year old campers).

Not many other campers there during the week. My only complaint is the showers/bathrooms. Not close to my site so I had to drive, and desperately in need of updating. Two shower faucets in one stall, water didn’t get hot, water smelled like well water, and the shower heads sprayed like a sprinkler all over the place.

We camped here during the first week of October. The rate drops to $10 (from $18) on October 1 until Nov. 30 (when the entire campground closes for the season) when the water and bath houses are shut down for the season. But there is still electric and pit toilets available. The campground includes many sites right on the water which offer fantastic views of Stockton lake. In our spot at B4, we were right on the shore out on a point. A beautiful site with panoramic views from all sides of our fifth wheel.
All pads are paved and long enough to accommodate most any rig. Ours was nearly level. Most shore-front sites have a downhill drive to get into the site. Some could present a problem for rigs which are prone to bottoming out, so choose wisely.
Plenty of activities in the area, including biking, hiking, fishing and boating/kayaking. The town of Stockton, about 15 miles away, offers ample food shopping, fuel and eating establishments. Nearby Lake Stockton State Park has laundry facilities. Hawker Point is a much better and more scenic campground in my opinion if choosing between it and the state park. Cell and internet were sketchy at times, but overall, we had adequate connectivity, though we really don't need these amenities.

This is a hard campground to review because it was almost completely flooded during our stay. We did end up getting a nice waterfront site, but only because we were fine without any hook-ups. All the other W & E sites were completely underwater. From what we could see, when the water recedes and the sites are cleaned up this will be a very, very nice campground.

After a week in the city, we were in need of some nature. Maybe even the kind of nature that involves a water view and a nearly deserted campground? Fortunately, Missouri has no shortage of lake...
