“Clean camp right on Rock Creek”

Rock Creek is a popular fishing destination so expect lots of traffic during the day as fishermen come and go. The road is narrow with few opportunities to pull over and pass larger vehicles so bring RVs up here with caution, scout it out first if possible. The main road can be dusty but camp if just far enough away for it not to be an issue. Further up the road, there is a section where RVs are not allowed due to a couple of very narrow and steep curves. The full length of Rock Creek Road is approximately 42 miles of dirt road between I90 and HWY348. Due to the narrow, rocky nature of the terrain, it can take most of the day to travel the full length.
The sites are on the smaller side - expect truck campers, tenters mostly - a few sites can take RVs but again the access road to get here is tricky. The forest service checks in on the camp and cleans up regularly. No garbage service here. There is a newer, concrete pit toilet in the loop to the right of the main entrance and two older, wooden pit toilets in the lefthand loop. All sites are back in, gravel and fairly level. Basic tables and fire ring available at each site. There are a couple of well-traveled footpaths to the creek from the camp but only a couple of sites have direct access to the creek. This is mainly in a Ponderosa Pine forest and deadfall is not available for campfires, plan ahead to bring your own firewood. Also, fire restrictions are usually in place mid-summer so check with the forest service or at the camp bulletin board/fee station if fires are currently allowed.
