Central Camping Area
Site #39 E/W

Offered the option to camp at any open site in the 3 areas within the fairgrounds. We selected the Central Camping Area. An Air Stream group had the Grove Area near full and at the time we were not familiar with the Machinery Lot which is adjacent to the Grove Area. The Grove Area is the only real shaded area with many trees. All the other locations are pretty much full sun. The majority of the sites in the Central Camping Area are grass and very level. There are some paved sites close to the Administration Building. There is a building with men & woman restrooms in the Central Camping Area but it was locked so we can not give a report on the facility. There is a great amount of road noise from Highway 13 which is to the East and the railroad which is to the West. Our first night it was cool enough to just have the fan and that is when the noise was an issue. The second & third nights the noise was diminished with our A/C running. There were some sites in the Machinery Lot which might be quieter as there are buildings there which may block the noise. There are 2 dump stations identified on the Fair Grounds. One is by the Grove Camping Area which we did not use. The other is on Raughley Street which is the one we used. There are no signs just a cement basin. The fitting is not threaded so we used a donut. There is no water for rinsing. There is no wifi but our Verizon phones worked without issues. All in all this was a very affordable camping area, convenient to the Casino and centrally located for touring the Delaware and Maryland countryside.

We parked in the back of the parking lot beside some tractor trailers (did not check in with security). Lots of lights, felt safe during the night. A big grass area for the dogs to walk around. We enjoyed dinner and some slot machines in the casino. It was noisy with traffic, casino music, and trains going by, but we didn’t mind.

This is a quiet, safe place to camp. You need to check in with security when you get there. RVers need to park near the back of the parking lot on the concrete area. There is a casino with restrooms & restaurant here.
