Water runs slow so it’s safe but cold. The freeway is a constant roar but after a few drinks just think of it as wind. Campsites have table, fire ring with grill and bear box. Bugs were minimal during our July 20 stay.

We knew it was loud coming in. It barely quiets down at night. That’s the only downside. Area is beautiful and even better if you can get a site on the river. Boosted Verizon was good. There was water as of 7/8/23 but signs not to drink it as it hadn’t been certified yet. Ok for a late night stop over.

We were very happy to find this place especially after visiting a few tight campgrounds nearby like Indian Springs. This was a small campground but larger roads and way bigger, more level sites. Several on the river. My two boys practically lived in the river our entire stay and I was able to handle a few business tasks with decent Verizon service. Camp Host was unique… he didn’t seem happy(it had been rather hot) and was rather snappy/annoyed w/my questions but guided us for a smooth check-in. You could hear I-80 but that never bothered us. Several 40ft spots and a few big rig pull thru’s. We had a 31ft class C. Dog friendly. We practically had the park to ourselves mid week.

We needed a last-minute reservation. Technically we should’ve been able to fit into campsite seven, but they put boulders on the side of the campsite so we couldn’t angle our RV into the space. Campsite 18 was available, but it’s right next to interstate 80. If you’re expecting a rest area kind of experience, you’ll love it. There are huge beautiful flowering bushes, a creek behind the campsite. Noisy Motorcycles, and noisy semi‘s, and loud highway noise. It’s in a ravine, so the noise is louder than normal rest area.

This would be a perfect campground if it wasn’t so close to the highway. The sites are nice and decently spaced away from each other. There are fun rocks to climb and good swimming spots. Not very crowded on a Monday and Tuesday in July.

Despite some road noise from I-80, we had a great spot in the pines near the river with a sandy beach. There are huge rocky outcrops you can climb on or sunbathe on. There was a large group of preteens there in a group area.

We did not stay here but scouted it. Conditions are similar to nearby Indian Springs Campground if you want to read our review of it regarding proximity to I80. Hampshire Rocks will be more accessible to small RVs since there aren't as many trees growing close to the road and it will therefore be easier to back into your site. There are a couple of sites here that will accommodate medium rigs, but I would not say it is big-rig friendly.
