Hailey's Beach-n-Bay RV Resort

Pros: Easy access from highway (everything on Bolivar peninsula is close to highway). Some great restaurants/pubs nearby. Site was pull thru, full hookup, and level. Interior roads are tight but navigable. Pirate ship playground, tiki pavilion, and fishing platform on slow moving/still water only feet from our campsite. QUIET! Manager was great to deal with by phone but the office was closed the two days we stayed and we never saw him. Actually, we never saw anyone else in 40 hours there, although almost all the campsites were occupied--I'm guessing seasonal leases. Cellular on T-Mo and Verizon was adequate for streaming TV. Excellent restaurants, night spots and groceries within a couple of miles drive.
Cons: Mosquitos!!! Hoards of large, ravenous, aggressive mozzies. Bring a quart of DEET, more if you want to go outside. Sites are overgrown, which I'm sure contributes to the 'skeeter problem, but even on the entrance road away from grass I was swarmed while trying to hook up our toad. While most of the sites have a picnic table and fire pit, the transient sites (2 and 2A) do not; this doesn't matter since you can't sit outside anyway without being eaten alive. This campground is OK for one night to dump tanks and sit inside or go to a local eatery, but not a place to recreate. Calling this seedy camp a "resort" is a stretch despite the playground and tiki hut.
We did not see or use any campground showers/toilets/etc so I can't comment on those.
