Haggard's RV Campground

We don't usually stay at RV parks, but we really enjoyed our over night stay at Haggard's RV Park. My wife called it an unexpected gem. Nancy, the owner, was very welcoming and set the tone for the visit. She suggested some sites and we found one that was perfect for us with beautiful views across the prairie to the mountains and a spectacular sunset to boot. Nancy came around offering ice at one point and, later, watermellon. There is a nice dog park on-site. In fact, the best we've seen while traveling. Our older greyhound, who usually just follows us, actually did a fe
w laps. Nancy's attention to detail was evident in the way she decorated the bathhouse to create a more personal, at-home feel. Haggard's is on our list of campgrounds to return to in the future.

Arrival - Super easy with advanced booking. Communication was fantastic from the owners even though we arrived on a Sunday.

Tips - Be prepared for shorter sites. If they offer you two sites, take it; they don't charge for the second site to park your tow vehicle.

Favorites - Wide open spaces with fantastic views to the N, S, and W. Dark skies at night. Little in the way of bugs. Close to Pueblo, Penrose, and 50W. The pool, dog park, and playground were all welcome amenities. The road noise, or lack there of, from 50 versus I-25 was a plus as well; we've stayed at both KOA's off of I-25 and they were noisy.

Negatives - No trees, high iron content in the water (bring your drinking water with you). Shorter pad sites.

We were suppose to camp here for a couple of nights and had emailed the campground host. They emailed us and was very polite and informative. Due to high winds and snow, we were unable to make it to the campground the next day and we emailed the campground to let them know. They were very understanding and even gave us a website to follow Colorado weather and road conditions. If we are ever in this area again, we will defiantly camp here, due to campground hosts that truly care about their campers.

Restrooms very clean and had a lot of attention to detail on the decor. Great place to stay when visiting Canon City or Pueblo & surrounding area. We drove into Colorado Springs & it was a bit of a commute but the scenery was beautiful. We were only there to sleep so we didn't mind the gravel sites.

We can’t say enough good things about Haggard’s RV.

They worked with us to get us a beautiful spot. We were there for our nephew’s graduation. We spent two weeks there and could stay another month.

Nancy and Matt worked so hard to make us feel at home. They live on site and it shows. Updated facilities and lovely landscaping. With trails and horses!

Nancy warned us about the water’s high iron content. So we brought our own drinking water.

Beautiful views. Saw antelope almost every day. Saw Pikes Peak a lot. Mountains everywhere and Pueblo has everything you need.

Also, they held a cook out for their guests on the Memorial Day weekend. Such wonderful people. We’ll be back next year!

Arrived Friday and left Tuesday. Level and large pill through full hookup spaces with beautiful views of mountains and prairies. The Hosts were just welcoming, caring, and most hospitable! Location allows you to go anywhere in Colorado with a day! We went to Estes, Del Norte, Denver, Fort Garland, and Boulder after we explored local Colorado Springs! So much to do with a really nice relaxing place to come home to after a day of play. We recommend this park and will be back.

Good location close to Cañon City and Colorado Springs.
Campground was fine - bathroom and laundry were older but clean. Pool beautiful, and owner is a sweetheart.
Standard sites - dusty gravel and close together. Wouldn’t stay for any length of time but perfect for few days to see area attractions.
People in park were also very friendly - met several long term campers as well as others passing thru.

Campground owner, Nancy, is a gem and made us most welcome. I had called earlier in a panic as I had made a mistake on my other reservation and had no place to stay on a Saturday night. We were greeted with information about the campground, wifi passwords, etc. The laundry room was spotless and reasonably priced. The site was large enough for our 30 ft 5th wheel and had a nice picnic table and full hookup. We would come back again as this is centrally located between Canon City and West Pueblo. The grounds are in a very open range with the mountains off in the distance. We loved the down-home atmosphere here with the playground, pool, family horse stable and chickens.
