On a whim, I booked this campground around 5 o’clock on a Friday night. It was the second time I’ve been here. It is a stellar campground and I have had a great experience at every COE campground I’ve visited. With the America the Beautiful pass, you get it for $15, which can’t be beat for power, water and sewer!

Great campground with full hookups and plenty of space between their HUGE 70'+ long concrete pads. Campendium reports three bars of Verizon, but we could only get one. Still worth it.

Plenty of space between each of these HUGE paved sites. No worry about being close to the road, these 70"+ sites let you get back into the woods. Campendium reports three bars of Verizon, but we were only able to get one.

This is a Army Corps of Engineer's campground. There are two loops, the Antioch and the Catoma. The Catoma loops sites have sewer, Antioch is power and water only. Most of Antioch is gravel, Catoma is paved with concrete pads. I stayed in Catoma, site 68, which was pretty level and very nice. I did not use the restrooms/showers, but I did notice they had a few coin-op washers and dryers.
Cell signal was marginal, I usually got 1 or sometimes 2 bars of AT&T LTE service.
There are not many trails through this campground, especially connecting the Antioch and Catoma loops. I rode my bike around the whole campground and it was maybe 6 miles. I also put my kayak in the water here, although getting down to the water is sometimes a challenge due to the brush. Catoma site 5 has a nice trail to access the water. Antioch has a paved boat launch with a dock, so on that side, it may be easier to just use the boat launch.
The gate never closes, so you can come and go as needed. The problem is, there isn't much of anyplace to go. There is a Dollar General not too far away, but for grocery stores or restaurants, you'll have to drive 15-20 miles to get to Prattville or Montgomery.
Montgomery Speedway is less than a mile away and the noise from the race cars is pretty loud, but that is only on Saturday nights, as far as I can tell.

Older Antioch area is not. Large bathhouse is air conditioned in both sides of the campground. The smaller bathhouse in the Catoma side is NOT air conditioned. Cell service from both ATT and Verizon is almost nonexistent. No problems texting but searching and app usage is sporadic. Late night access sometimes improves for YouTube viewing, etc. This is mosquito heaven due to the densely forested setting, so be prepared.
We like the campground. This is our third visit. We would recommend camping here in the spring, fall and winter- not so much in the summer.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #99, an E/W, BI site for $14/night with the America the Beautiful Sr Pass. This site is in the Antioch Loop which is an older section of the park. The roads were asphalt and the site was gravel or a mix of broken asphalt and gravel. The road was narrow, bumpy and uneven in places, but I didn’t have any issues navigating. #99 lines up directly with the road so I was able to turn on the road, get straight and back right in. It took one board to get level. Hookups are at the back of the site so you may need a little longer water hose. The site is plenty long. Lots of room for the rig and truck. It is a spacious site and right on an inlet of the lake in a very pretty setting. Some sites have a bit of a curb at the entrance to channel water away which could be a little awkward to get over (111-114 – uphill exit with soft gravel.) The bathhouse was pretty basic and could use some updating. The laundry room was locked. The Catoma loop looks newer and the road is in better shape. The bathhouse is in better shape as well. It seems more big rig friendly as there were very few sites that I didn’t think I could get into. Some were at an odd angle off the road which could be problematic. I would avoid the PT sites due to lack of privacy/shade. Pay attention to the description of the slope of the sites when booking your reservation, they were pretty spot on. My preferred sites would be: 97-103 along the lake side in the Antioch Loop with 103 being the favorite. In Catoma I’d choose 13, 25, 27, 28, 29, 31, or 40. The park was having issues with the dump station in the Antioch Loop, but were in the process of fixing it as I left. Catoma dump station was fine. For connectivity I had 2 bars LTE with Verizon, 1.4 mbps download speed, no wifi and several OTA channels. It was a lovely park and I would easily stay here again.
