Stayed here 12/1/19 to 12/4/19. My nightly rate of $56 includes all taxes and fees for booking online. This was by far the most I've paid to stay at a state park, and I think it might actually be the most I've paid anywhere, but I knew I wanted to check it out after seeing pictures. I honestly wish I had just sucked it up and stayed a whole week. This place was awesome. It was massive and busy, but for good reason.
My site was a really nice paved pull-through with full hookups and it was perfectly level. I was on the canal so there were signs about alligators all over the place, but unfortunately I never saw one. I'm thinking it was too cold while I was there. As I said before, this park is huge. If you have a bike definitely bring it because trying to get around by walking takes forever. The park has pretty much everything you could want. A pool, tennis courts, boat ramp, laundry, and tons of hiking trails. You can actually take a boardwalk that goes over the highway and to the beach. When you camp here they give you a pass that gets you free access to the beach, which is absolutely beautiful. I really want to come back in the summer time because it would be amazing to spend a few days on that beach. The location here is also great and it only takes a few minutes to get to tons of restaurants and shops around Gulf Shores.
To be honest, I don't really have anything negative to say about this place except that it was expensive. This is definitely a case where I would say the value of the park is worth the price though. I can't wait to come back in the summer!

There is so much to do. Great walking and bike paths. We didn’t use the pool or splash pad but they looked nice. Laundry facility was nice and big. Access to the pier was included, so that was fun looking out over the rays, jellyfish and occasional shark. Bath houses were large, showers were hot. The sites were nice and roomy. All the staff and fellow campers were nice. We plan to come back here every year!

This is our 3rd year going to Gulf State Park in the fall and our family has already requested a return next fall.
The campground is huge. Most of the sites are quite large, also, but vary greatly in shade, privacy, and distance to the beach. The sites are asphalt pads with FHU. While we were there, contractors were going through to put in WiFi at the campsites.
The beautiful uncrowded beach is the big draw and is accessed either by taking an overpass over the road or crossing at the campground entrance and is easy to get to by bicycle.
There are many different walking/biking trails of varying length that are accessible from the campground. Many have a great deal of shade and vary from paved to boardwalks to grass/sand. We saw 2 bobcats while on the trails and several alligators. The trails have interesting stops from a parkour course, to a "rock" climbing area, to lake overlooks, etc.
The park has a small nature center with owls, alligators, snakes, turtles, and Madagascar hissing cockroaches that you are allowed to hold if you are so inclined. There is a pool and splash pad, a small store with bike rentals, and a large dog park with lake access for dogs to swim.
There is free access to the pier with a campground stay and also to parking by the pavilion, etc.
This is the second year that we have had to trim branches to get into our site to avoid scratching the side of our RV, but worth it to have some shade.

This is a very large campground but has so much to do here. There is a 27 mile paved bike trail, beach access via car or bike, pier, Resturants and great shopping nearby. The pool is very large and sites are nicely spaced. The laundry was ok. Highly recommend.

OFF with 100% DEET was all that works for them. The state park has many things to do, and 5 days really wasn’t enough. This was by far one of the better state parks I have been to, and I will return next yr!

I’ve been vacationing in Gulf Shores since I was a child and I can’t believe I’ve never stayed here before! Forget the condos and hotels , I’m bringing my camper down every year! The park entrance is open 24 hours a day so when we had to check in at 9:30 PM on a Tuesday there was no problem. Every staff member I came in contact with was pleasant and helpful. My spot was a back in with trees and shrubbery on all three sides, I backed up to the board walk. If you like space and privacy (I liked it for my two big dogs) the. This is the loop for you! Check out the 300s! There are close to 500 spots in this park and 8 bathhouses. It never felt crowded or even busy! They have over 20 miles of biking and walking trails and a cute restaurant which was delicious! The beach is right across the road and you can get to it by bike, car, and even take the boardwalk over the highway. If you drive take your camping pass and you get to park for free! I almost forgot! The pool was AMAZING!! During the week at most there were 5 other people there but it’s huge and plenty of space to lay out. I could go on and on about this park! Tips: bring a bike so you can explore the park without getting exhausted and keep an eye out for gators if you have pups. Saw 1 that was about 4ft right along a road in the park.

The campground is was well kept and had many amenities. Also, the staff was very pleasant and the check in and check out process was easy.
This price point is a bit higher than what we usually like to spend on a campground, but in this case it was totally worth it. We had front row seats to alligator sightings, stunning sunrises and sunsets, and of course the breezy Gulf of Mexico.

This is a nice park. A LOT of money has been spent on this park, in some areas. The campground bathrooms should be next on their list. They were clean, but could use with updating and replacing falling off tile in showers and power washing of tile. New loo seats would be nice too! Pressure and hot water were good.
Sites: we stayed at 2 different sites. One back in and one pull through. Sewer and electric at most if not all RV sites.
This is a huge campground with monthly campers. There are weekly and monthly prices in winter. If you check online and don’t see spots call the campground. Most sites are not private. Some may have foliage between but generally not.
There are what seemed like new bike paths both asphalt and wood in the park. Water fountains, restrooms and a bike fixit station were available along path. New path signs were installed while we were there.
Some things to know before you go:
•WiFi did not work while we where there. Hosts didn’t seemed surprised.
•The beach is not in the campground. It is across four lane highway. There are pedestrian walkways that will take you over the road. Depending on where your site is it could be up to a approximately mile walk via the board walk.
• Pier pass and parking pass for beach is included with your site.
• The restaurant in the park opened while we were there.
• Recycling except glass
• ice on demand machines
• Laundry room. (Bring your own chairs for comfortable seating.)
• Small camp store but Walmart is close
• Nature Center, horse shoe pit, pool, tennis.
• check the weekly calendar for activities
Cost: There were various fees and taxes applied to our bill. See photo.
We enjoyed Big Beach Brewery.good beer and music.
