“Great State park at the Beach”

Reviewed May 08, 2018

Overall Rating

Lots of very nice bicycle paths through the park. Can ride bikes or a longish walk to beach from most campsites. Good parking and great pavilion with concession style food and even daiquiris on the beach. Bath houses were very clean and large. Full hookups at all the sites makes for a very nice stay! Sites are paved with large pave... more

Awesome campground and beautiful park. The campground spots are spacious and easy to get in to. Everyone is very friendly. They have educational programs frequently for kids and adults. Park is great for bike riding and walking. Beautiful!

“We'll be back”

Reviewed Nov 29, 2017

Overall Rating

We stayed here for 3 nights over Thanksgiving and we didn't want to leave. While I wouldn't give the actual campground a 5/5, the amenities here are what makes this park shine. First, the negatives... -The campsites are nothing special. Many have little to no privacy and the sites are relatively close together. About 1/3 of the ... more

“Over rated!”

Reviewed Nov 16, 2017

Overall Rating

Wasn't bad, but over rated. We only stayed here one night. It was a huge camp ground, not really that close to the beach, still had to drive, unless you wan't to walk a couple of miles in the heat. There isn't much else in the area, just high rise condos on the beach and crapy chain resturants. The pool was closed and the dog park was ... more

“Very nice park with full hook ups. ”

Reviewed Oct 04, 2017

The park is really nice. Nice beach. Nice boardwalks. TONS of trails for walking or biking. We saw alligators, birds, turtles, snakes and frogs on our bike rides. The park is working on an overhead road crosswalk to the beach that will be very useful. You get free access to their fishing pier with a bait shop right there. The pool was... more

“Great Family Campground”

Reviewed May 01, 2017

Overall Rating

Excellent family campground! Lots to do here: nature trails, paved hiking/biking paths, boating, kayaking, fishing, and close to beach. Many miles of new paved hiking/biking paths and boardwalks were added in the last few months. One boardwalk is 1.1 miles long, providing a scenic view of campground and lake. They were testing the rece... more

We drove our RV with towed vehicle in for a few days and, after one night, extended our stay for over a week. The spaces might not all be tucked away and private but they sure are spacious and clean. “Gulf Shores State Park bills itself as a “resort” and is priced accordingly, but it offers amenities a cut above most state parks – amazing beaches, the second longest pier on the Gulf of Mexico, and a fabulous trail system for walking and biking. ”

We stayed a week at Gulf Shores State Park and loved it. The campground is huge with a site to suit nearly every taste – waterfront or inland, shaded or sunny, open or private, back-in or pull through, FHU or primitive – there’s something for everyone. My only knock on the park is that they reserve all the premium waterfront sites for... more

“Lovely campground with lots to do. Beach pavilion, pool, tennis, nature center. Level asphalt sites with full hookups.”

We stopped here for 5 days as we started our trek westward. Overall a great campground and not crowded this time of year, but it looks like it could get quite crowded in summer.
