After 9 hours of driving, passing tons of packed trucking pull-offs on the way, we were SO RELIEVED to pull into this area.
The Campendium navigation for this area takes you to the Westbound side of I-10, I think, but we pulled off on the mirror image pull off on the Eastbound side since we were headed towards Houston.
We pulled in at night, so I can’t really speak to the nature walk (sounds cool), but this is definitely a much prettier, wooded rest area than the average rest stop.
I don’t know exactly what the differences from the westbound and the eastbound are I can tell you that over here in the EB:
When you pull in, there is a sign dividing the two lots: 1) Cars and 2) RV’s, Buses, Trucks. Made me feel welcomed immediately in our converted 25’ bus... that we weren’t going to be taking up semitrailer spots.
The two lots are separated by the building which featured restrooms (men’s, women’s, and 2 private family bathrooms) and is honestly one of the nicest rest stop facilities I’ve seen. It’s like a well-taken care of room of a museum. Flush toilets, running water... yall, it’s nice.
Vending machines with snacks inside, too.
DOT and Law Enforcement offices inside as well. Unmanned when we came in on a week night.
Anyway, super clean restrooms and facilities, several trash cans, a dog walking area, picnic tables, another covered picnic area... the works.
We pulled in to an RV/ Bus site on the right side near the building, and even found some electricity in that outdoor covered picnic area by the dog walk area! I saw a “water” spot but didn’t check it out.
Didn’t venture into the “Car” lot, but over here, there are lots of trucks with their engines running... like a normal trucking rest area.
3 LTE Verizon bars for me, 1 AT&T LTE for my boyfriend. Both of us used our phones no problem.
Very grateful to have such a safe-feeling free place to sleep in a state that doesn’t have BLM or much public land at all! Safe travels, everyone.

Only issue (which was expected) was trucks running all night. My wife slept fine, but I’m a light sleeper so I didn’t get too much sleep. Easy on and off I-10. Lot was patrolled about midnight by local PD. Would definitely stay again.
