The road on the WEST side of the pass (prior to Summit Campground) is just bad enough that you can still drive a high clearance vehicle. That statement is not a compliment. The road alternates between washboard, sharp rocks, more rocks, large ruts and did I mention rocks. I do not think this road has been graded in years.

If you want to camp here, approach from the east side of the pass (from the Kremmling/Walden side). It will be far faster and nicer on your vehicle. The east side had been very recently graded and was very smooth.

Take the SECOND road entry to the area if you have a low clearance rig. The first entry (from the east) has a bit of a dip. The second entry is flat.

The sites are very level and could be easily used for group camping. The first site is on a loop in the sun, next to the creek. It would work for any solar rig and for Starlink.

The second site is in the aspens and in full shade. There was some trash left behind from a previous camper (removal of stars) and would work for a smaller group.

Cellular coverage was spotty in the area for AT&T and Verizon
