Early June 2022 - Did a drive through as last information from NFS was in 2021 stating it was closed. A few years ago fire and high winds devastated this campground. I had considered it as a support spot for a hiker doing the PCT. The trail drops out of the hills into this campground and onto a dirt road to proceed to Seiad Valley. No work has been done to this campground and an extensive Google search found the government accepting bids in June 2022 for major reconstruction of the area. My visit found the dirt road passable but I would be tentative about towing my rig on that narrow road despite it being off-road equipped - no where to pull over for oncoming traffic. There doesn’t appear to be cell coverage, at least for ATT, anywhere in this valley. The campground itself was overgrown, downed trees, sites were indistinguishable, obvious vandalism and broken glass. Looked like some logging or firewood harvesting going on. The gate was unlocked when I went through but probably for contractors to have a look for bidding. Hope this was helpful.
