There were several large groups not at group campsites that did make for noticeable noise although it did calm down during quiet hours somewhat. Fly fishing is excellent along the Green River. Probably best to visit after the first hard freeze so the insects are less prevalent.

We did a couple of nights of dispersed camping along the Green River before heading up to the campground. While nothing quite compares with that experience, the campground was a pleasant surprise.
The campground is first come first served with exception of the group areas. There is a decent amount of space between sites and trees and underbrush offer plenty of privacy. Minimal leveling was required for our class C. The picnic tables in a few of the sites we looked at were basically unusable, but otherwise the sites were clean. Definitely have to pack out your trash as stated on the website.
Quiet hours seem to start well before posted times which was wonderful!
Definitely worth staying a night to have easy access to the hiking trails.

We drove to Green River Lakes expecting to stay in the campground, but finding boondocking sites nearby that we liked better, we opted to do that instead.
Nevertheless, we checked out the campground, and both a drive-through and aerials are in the video linked above. Green River Lakes Campground is a dry Forest Service campground located near the shores of beautiful Lower Green River Lake, at an elevation of 8,000 feet. 39 sites, including 3 group sites, feature fire rings and picnic tables, and vault toilets and drinking water hydrants are scattered throughout the campground. Single sites cost $12 per night, and the group sites $35 per night. Only the group sites are reservable; the single sites are all first come, first served. Forest Service officials tell us that the campground seldom fills, and on this weekend preceding the 4th of July we found the campground perhaps 20% full. Nevertheless, if you're unable to find space in the campground we found seemingly unlimited boondocking sites alongside the Forest Service road leading to the campground, along the banks of the Green River.
Be aware that the 19 miles of dirt FR-650 to get to this campground is heavily washboarded and has small rocks embedded within it, even though it's graded. As a result, count on it taking an hour to drive that 19 miles. On our way out we lost two bumper end caps from the vibration, and the emergency exit clamps on our dinette window repeatedly let go. But if any part of Wyoming is worth this inconvenience, this is it.
Don't expect even a hint of cell service, even boosted, on any carrier.

A family friend is a NOLS instructor in nearby Lander. He highly recommended this campground for RV/tent camping above all others in the Wind River Range. The campground is nestled in the north end of the range on Green River Lake, the headwater of the mighty Green River. Beautiful Flat Top Mountain dominates the scene. Sites are spread nicely apart. Shade. Potable water throughout campground, Typical NFS pit toilet restrooms that were clean. Nice hiking trails around the lake and as far north and south as you want to go as the Continental Divide Trail goes through here. Late July the campground was not crowded at all. The only drawback is a 60 mile wash board road. The campground was worth it but NOT if you are staying just one night. Senior rate is half price.
