“No ranger = Wild West”

The beauty of the place is undeniable, the “pond” is more like a lake, and the water quality is amazing. You’re away from the hubbub, but not so far that you can’t get what you need within half an hour. The walking trails are numerous and fun to hike.

All that said, though… it makes for a rough nights sleep. There is no ranger on duty. Ever. We get a roll through to check your plate to make sure you’re in the right spot, but otherwise, there’s ZERO enforcement of ANY rules. It’s supposed to be no alcohol, but yeah, sure. 10pm is supposed to be quiet time, but… yeah. What you wind up with is roving hordes of teens / 20-somethings running roughshod. Screaming, loud music, horns blaring at 1:30am, music at 8:30am, motorcycles just making circuits to show off how loud they are, etc. I understand kids are having fun, but when it’s at the detriment of others, it’s not cool. We even asked the drive-through ranger, and she actually LAUGHED when we mentioned the issues. She knows what goes on, she’s just powerless to stop it.

Also, they allow pets, which is nice, but the feces on the site looked a little too human for me…

To some, lack of oversight might be perfect. For me, I probably won’t be back during prime camping months.

A primitive campground with 18 sites. No water or electricity. Campsites are large and spaced apart enough for privacy. Each has a picnic table and a fire pit. Toilets are closed (we’re assuming this is because of Covid) but there are plenty of portable outhouses. A very beautiful lake for fishing, SUP’s or canoes/kayaks. There is a swimming area but it is temporarily closed due to bacteria.
The www.reserveamerica.com site says $17.00 per night and rates may vary based on dates, taxes and fees. We are from out of state and ended up at $63.00 for 2 nights in June of 2021. This includes a $9.00 online registration fee.
We were coming From Rhode Island along I-95 and google maps directed us to the east end of Green Falls Pond Road which was closed with a gate across it where it meets route 138. So we continued a couple more miles westbound on 138 and found the other end of Green Falls Pond Rd and were able to get there that way. And so glad we did, such a nice quiet place to decompress!
