Just follow the road behind Flag Ranch. It does become gravel & get a bit rough in places, but the view is totally worth it. Camp 1 has 4 sites. We loved this and super convenient to Yellowstone South Gate. We were in site 3, and apparently the guy at site 2 kept turning late comers away so they ended up at our site. As far as we’re concerned, it’s public land and we were happy to welcome others as long as there was room. Our site ended up with 5 groups total- 1 RV, two tents (... more

As far as we’re concerned, it’s public land and we were happy to welcome others as long as there was room. Our site ended up with 5 groups total- 1 RV, two tents (with vehicles) and two suv campers. Ended up sharing the fire and loved the company. Can’t beat the views.

There are about 4-5 pull offs on this road with 2 sites and a vault toilet at each one. We only drove up to the third one and claimed that spot. (travelling East to West) One of the best spots in my opinion, right at a point where the river bends and you can just stare down river a least a half mile and watch for wildlife. We did have a neighbor that had a Truck camper, but didn't see any RV's attempt anything past the second pulloff. Oh, also the bear boxes AND trash bins at each pull off are a big plus.
Added note: This is not actually part of the Bridger-Teton National Forest like I expected, it is actually part of the Caribou-Targhee NF, but this really changes nothing.
