The last probably quarter mile is pot hole city!!! Just drive slow. We have a van, and our friends were in a 5th wheel. We made it, it's just super bumpy. There is a vault toilet that was clean and loaded with toilet paper. And there are garbage cans. This site is along the river and we had a beautiful sunset. Unfortunately, there has been a fire in the area and the trees are dead. I understand that if you keep driving the landscape gets better. But we enjoyed this spot nonetheless.
I had zero cell service with my Tmobile.

This being summer and a FREE convenient spot between national parks, we weren’t surprised. We decided to park at a pullout at a trailhead. We weren’t sure if we’d get in trouble or not for doing this but no one approached us to move. We left early the next morning (around 630am). There are bathrooms at the posted campsites. The first part of the road in, the forest is burned, surrounded with dead/blackened trees (not safe or attractive to camp amongst). Continuing on past campsite #3, the burn fades and the forest is green and alive again.

GRIZZLY BEAR HERE. At campsite #1 there is a grizzly bear associated with the camp because people did not camp correctly and bear country and it has gotten food. Rangers are watching it but PLEASE if you do not know how to properly camp in bear country do not camp here because the grizzly is actively at this camp site.

The snow capped mountains, the hot springs river runoff that joins the snake river, the fishing that was incredible, the peace and quiet - WOW.
Beware, it does fill up in the evening. Check out the video and give it a thumbs up if you like it.

Reviews are spot on for this area. Ranger came through daily for trash pick-up. We were told he got a few people for having their dogs off-leash. Let’s talk about the stream next to snake river that feeds into it. It’s a hot spring runoff! The water was just lovely and just warm enough! This is only at the first campsite (4spots). ... more

We wish we could have stayed longer, but alas!
Easy road to come in on, we have a 30ft TT.

This spot was amazing! Right on the river. Camp site one says 4 spots, but you may end up with seven or eight? Other than that it was amazing, and I really didn’t mind the company. Will definitely come back.

The bathroom is a basic pit-toilet but was well maintained. There are bear boxes for you to use. This is a nice location because you aren't too far from the paved roads to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. They are also close to trail heads. We would definitely come back.

We even talked to a park ranger that pulled in and he said it’s an active bear zone but open to the public for camping. Either way it was a nice little camping area on the snake river with wildlife everywhere. The road in was a bit tight but we made it in and to a prime spot right on the river. We had quite a bit of neighbors just stopping for the evening and leaving early the next morning. Great spot and the only reason for four stars instead of five was absolutely no signal on Att or Verizon. Couldn’t get closer to the Yellowstone entrance for free!!

It was pretty busy during our stay on a Wednesday. Amenities were pit toilets, bear boxes, picnic table, and fire pit. Not very level. This spot was located very close to the south entrance of Yellowstone but since the park is so big be prepared to drive a lot if you want to see all parts of it. We ended up camping in the park for the remainder of our stay to be more central (but camping in the park is pricey, $28+/night as of 2017). No noticeable issues as a result of the fires during our stay. Only services close by would be those offered in the park, but the closest "town" within the park was closed for the season by the time we were there.
