“Very Good Place To Camp Along US 191”

Overall Rating

Had the place to myself. The CG host was leaving for the night and stopped to tell me the water system had been shut off to be tested. I had brought plenty of water not knowing what I would run into. There are a few hiking trails and places to ride a Mt. Bike. Very rustic and peaceful. Only a little traffic along US 191 during the day and nothing after dark. US 191 is a beautiful drive during daylight hours but would be a nightmare after dark. Many curves with no guard rails between Clifton/Morenci and Alpine.

I did encounter a Mountain Lion one evening sitting by the campfire. Was probably going for a drink from the seasonal stream that runs through the CG.

I was in a tent. Maybe a small trailer or pickup camper would work on some sites. It would be a challenge because not much is level. You can supply/resupply down the road in Clifton/Morenci. The copper mines are quite interesting.
