“We loved it here!”

Reviewed Apr 08, 2018

Overall Rating

Yes, there is the road and random train noise from the nearby bridges. We however, didn't notice it enough to have it bother us, we slept great. Can't remember the site number we stayed in but it was the "pull through" on the water side. A little small for our 26 foot fifth wheel but we managed and once settled in it was an amazing sta... more

“Junior Ranger tip”

Reviewed Mar 14, 2018

Overall Rating

If you stop at the ranger station just outside of Del Río, you can snag a Jr. Ranger book. Once acquired, they will also provide you with the badge AND patch. No need to make a distinction here, folks. The ranger then grants you full rights to administer said patches once your children have successfully completed the book. Not only doe... more

“Nice tent campsites right on the lake”

Reviewed Sep 28, 2017

Overall Rating

I would have given this place 5-starts except for the continual car and train noise. I had to wear earplugs at bedtime. Several of the campsites have pathways to nice swimming areas. The water is very clear and cold compared to other Texas lakes. Can be windy at times. If you have a Senior Pass the cost at all Amistad sites is 1/2 ... more

“Cheap and great for an overnight.”

Reviewed Feb 12, 2016

Governors Landing feels like a rest stop, but it's a campground. It's located right off the highway, which means there's a lot of road noise. We chose site #5 because it's farthest from the road, and it seemed the most private (though we quickly learned otherwise). There's a trail to the lake leading to a dock behind our campsite, ... more

“Great, convenient stopover just off the I-90”

Reviewed Feb 03, 2016

Overall Rating

Perhaps it was the 80 degree weather, perhaps the fact that it's a mere 1/2 mile off the highway, or even perhaps that our children didn't fight the entire 15 hours we were there - regardless, if you're driving from say, the dust ridden towns of west Texas and need a quick, rewarding place to pull over for the night, the bluffs above A... more
