Gores Landing

It is a nice small camp ground a few miles off the beaten path. All campsites have picnic table, fire ring, and most have bbq for charcoal and a huge trash can. And the camp sites sit under large old trees.
It’s right on the river but there’s a lot of vegetation between campground and river except the place to put your boat in.
There are a few small trees down, so lots of firewood if you want to cut your own.
The toilet is a flush, but not the cleanest building to walk into. The sink water smells bad.
We had no bars on our phone but did have when we were a 1/4 mile out of camp.
We had a flock of white birds fly up the river, and a great horned owl serenaded us most the night in a very nearby tree. The trees are huge and beautiful!

Pros: Spacious; Level; Lots of shade trees; Paved roads in; Quiet from civilization, but noisy from nature; Very primitive and remote; Beautiful; Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, trash can and grill; River access for canoeing or kayaking

Cons: A maze of small roads to get there with low hanging tree limbs and power lines; Dirt sites; No power or water; Old restroom that needs fumigating and new coat of paint (A crew came and power washed it the morning we were leaving!); Because the campground is under a canopy of trees, there is not much air movement so can be very hot and humid; No Cell Service with AT&T

Notes: Only sites 1 and 2 can accommodate an RV up to 40’; Strangely, there is one permanent resident site that is not a camp host; one alligator sighting on the riverbank.
