My husband and I stayed for a night here in our 30 foot class c while towing our Jeep. The road leading up to the campground is pretty steep but was manageable for our rig. There are rv specific sites that were very spacious. Quiet as well.

Great BLM campground around 5500 elevation. The road going up starts out paved and then to a very well maintained gravel road. It’s a steady climb to the top but we’ll worth it. Crazy nice BLM campground. MccAmmon is only 4miles away but still feels super remote. A couple BLM routes (accommodates up to 50” vehicles and non-motorized). And an awesome hiking trail connecting BLM area to Caribou Targhee NF and then unlimited trails from there. Saw a moose about 2ft from out window first morning! Plenty to explore around the area, depending on what you’re looking for. Only 20 mins from lava hot springs and about 35 to Pocatello. The paved road up is honestly more intimidating than the gravel road IMO. But ultimately very easy access with our rig, even with toad attached. Well maintained. BLM employees there twice during our stay for brief cleaning periods. Fire rings at every site (10 developed sites that will accommodate RVS only 5 I saw for big rigs, and 5 or 6 tent only sites down a ways.) 3 bathrooms (we did not use but seemed clean enough). Normally prefer less developed and open but it was extremely enjoyable.

Lowest was 27 so be prepared for that. Also bugs are coming out good now. Overall an awesome experience here. Would stay here again

Pete and Karen from Colorado were amazed the campsite was free. Clean, fairly level with beautifully landscaped sites. We have a 28 foot rig. Anything larger might be a challenge. The road up was well maintained; a bit steep but not a problem if you’re pulling with a Cummins diesel.

This spot is great overall, I just wish we had understood the spots a little more before coming. Before I get to the campsite though, let’s talk that drive in! It was a wild ride shortly after leaving the Interstate. The mention on this hill is not to be underestimated. As long as you are towing within your means, you should have no problem getting to the camp site, but it is steep and tight. The dirt road has some deep eroding on the passenger side as you head in. Be careful! Then you get to the castle guard, and we thought the first gate on your right was a tight corner. I get out and check it out, then look up and see campers further down the hill so I thought those must be tent only sites. Not the case, but I had already ruled them out (drove from Mesquite this morning and ready to stop and rest!) and went in searching for an opening down the road before he drives the truck and trailer down. Getting into the site was tricky, but not impossible. Again, if you are towing with your means. We have an F350 with a long bed and a 33’ trailer, wiggling about 55’ into a passenger side back in on quite the incline. Were we a bit too big? Most likely, but it worked. There is a turn around, so you can get back out. Finally, I’m walking the dog after relaxing for a bit and remember reading reviews of people in those upper spots in trailers/RVs and feel quite dumb for what could have been a much more level and quiet spot.

My friends and I camped here for part of our college-graduation celebration trip, and it was wonderful. We stayed at a site deep in the campground and crossed Goodenough Creek over a little bridge to get from the car to our site, which was level, spacious, and included a picnic table. There were dozens of butterflies stretching their wings on rocks along the creek, which was incredible! The vault toilet was a short walk away and reasonably clean, and the site was very close to a few trails. *There were leeches in the creek so be wary, but it was fine to carefully walk through and very nice to sit by. The roads up to the campground and our site weren't exactly paved, but were easy enough to traverse even in our little car with pretty low clearance. Overall great experience and definitely worth the zero dollars that we paid to stay here!

WARNING - steep climb up a hill to get to campground. We pull a super light 28 footer with a half ton GMC and it was ROUGH on the truck. We weren’t sure if we would make it but we did. Road has a couple potholes; watch out. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and out of about 10 spots, 4 were available. Seems like a popular free “full timer” spot. Far off from the main highway so all noise is natural - river crashing, birds, crickets. Creeks run through the whole grounds. Several hiking/biking trails at the back of the camp which were BEAUTIFUL. We spent about 4 hours hiking into the mountains with our young children (6 & 2). Fire rings, picnic tables and fairly level spots! We would have stayed longer but we had to pull out to dump & fill. We’d recommend to anybody!!
P.S. - if you are tent camping, go past the loop with 8 rv sites. Head down that little hill and keep going down the one-way road until you can’t anymore. You’ll run into a dirt parking lot with a bathroom. To the left are the BEST tent camping spots right above the river. We WISH we could have camped down there! Cell service is SPOTTY though so forget any uploading or streaming unless you have your own WiFi boosting setup.

Tried to go here on a friday night. It was completely full. Tents camping in RV spots rather than the tent sites. Most sites are far far far from the pit toilet.
