It’s free, has a picnic table and fire ring, but of course there’s snow everywhere, a fairly steep but decent road up to the campsite.

Excellent place to camp. We were amazed at how clean & beautiful this free site was. It was well maintained. A steep hill to climb into the area but not difficult. Vault bathroom was very clean. We will return. We were able to stream Netflix with no problems.

One of the best boondocking sites yet, and pretty quiet. I saw previous reviews about the steep hill, but its really not bad at all.

Three camping areas: first on right just before you come to the signage will take tents, car campers or rigs.
Just inside the signage area and by the pit toilet are four gravel pad RV spaces and one concrete pad with ADA access to the pit toilet. Each site had a new picnic table and existing fire pit. There is a turn around at the bottom should all spaces be full.
Third camping area for tents or cars is past the turn around and down the road that passes another pit toilet, which leads to a large parking area that also has a pit toilet. All camping sites are on the left hand side for this area, some with creek access.
Some smaller rig/truck-car folks spent a single night in just the parking areas both times I was there.
At least three hiking trails, including one to a summit.
The location is beautiful, water access for cooling your heels on a hot summer day, and the staff keep the bathrooms pristine.
Enough Verizon signal in spot 1 for me to work via VPN; better with a booster. Friends in spot 2 had more spotty service with Verizon.

There is a winding, mostly gravel road to get to the campground, and one relatively steep hill, but unless you are towing more than you should, you should not have a problem with it. Super easy to find with Google maps. We are a Ram 2500 towing a 24' trailer and no problems. This would not work for winter camping though, as they don't plow the road after a certain point.
Once you drive into the campground area, there are three main sections. The first area on the right has spaces for several RVs/trailers. Keep going a few hundred feet and there is a really nice area with 5 RV sites. No one was here when our party arrived and a few others arrived later but it never filled up. The spaces are far enough to have privacy and the views are stunning. For those with tiny set-ups or car camping, keep going past the RV area (RVs not allowed there) and there are more spots right along the creek that looked great. If for any reason you can't find a spot at any of these three areas, there is room to turn around for even a big rig.
There are several pit toilets throughout the campground. No water at all (except in the creek), so load up before heading up the hill to the campground.
We loved the Goodenough Creek trail at the end of the road (the trail on the left across the footbridge). Super steep climb but well-maintained.

We stayed over Memorial day weekend and there was a fair amount of traffic, but the views easily make up for that. There is some hiking, though I did not go, my friends said it was moderately strenuous because of the slopes. Highly recommend! And only 3 miles off the interstate, it's super easy to find!

Don't let the name fool you, this place is more than good enough. Pretty clean and tidy. FREE. Nice views, small creeks, trees, clean restrooms, level RV pads with fire rings and tables. 5 RV sites available, one of which is handicap accessible. Several other nice tent camping sites available. This is a great free dry camping site.

Good for smaller rigs under 32 feet. Made it in our 40 ft. Tiffin. Not advisable. Entrance lots of potholes. Other than that nice place.

I'm surprised no one mentioned how steep the road is! For starters, the very beginning of Green Rd leading up to the campground is steep enough we were nervous about losing momentum going up the hill. Also, its narrow enough and with a couple sharp corners that i wouldnt want to meet another big rig going the opposite direction, for fear we wouldnt get going again.
The road turns from paved on Green Rd, to nice hard packed gravel, to looser/soft gravel just before and throughout the campground. Immediately through the gates of the campground its a steep (enough) downhill for sites #1-5.. Which means that in order to get into your site you have to reverse uphill into it. We had our F150 in 4WD with a 34' 5th wheel and got in.. But the truck was definitely working hard. Our neighbors with an F150 and smaller travel trailer than us said they had a tough time too. Not too scare anyone off.. Just our experience.
After site #5 (bottom of the hill) there's a turnaround area as well as a sign that specifically says no RV's past that point. The road goes on for a few more smaller sites.
Dont get me wrong.. Its very picturesque here, a great place to put your feet up for a few days but we did not expect the road in. And for a larger size unit like ours, accessibility is important.
LTE seems to be working just fine too.
Mid-may and the mosquitoes are already out!

It also had a nice level area with smaller sized gravel for pitching a tent. Followed the Google Maps directions in with no problem. After the paved road ended it turned to a VERY WELL maintained gravel road up to the Federal Land line, then it became a more typical gravel road (maybe an 8th of a mile), but still easily accessible with our truck and 31' 5th wheel. Fortunately our neighbors, like us, preferred not to use any generators so it was a very quiet and peaceful experience. Beautiful view of the night sky and crickets to serenade you to sleep. Did not check out the vault toilets as we prefer our own. All our neighbors left early Sunday morning so we had the place to ourselves.
