Glenwood Springs West - Colorado River KOA Holiday

Arrival - Perfectly easy with online booking and nice arrival staging area. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

Tips - Arrive early, there were 5 rigs behind us after we checked in at 1400.

Favorites - Really nice KOA on the Colorado River. Awesome KOA right off of I-70 ~ 18 miles from Glenwood Springs. The town of Silt was small and quaint with good pizza. Glenwood Springs is always a favorite and the pool didn't disappoint. Great Jazz to be heard on the public plaza right outside the Riviera Supper Club. Great ice cream sundaes to be had at The Chocolate Moose. Unimpeded sight line for StarLink.

Negatives - Deceptively unlevel site; had a difficult time leveling the rig on this site when oriented to the rear. The highway noise can be bothersome at times but, fans combated at sleep time.

This was our first KOA site and it was very nice. We only had a quick overnight stay here but the bathrooms and showers were very clean. The pool looked well kept and the office and staff were very nice. There is a large RV/Truck Friendly Gas station right out front of the ground which was very convenient. I would stop here again :) Pretty view and a dog park near the river.

Pros:
- Check in was smooth
- Leveled sites, gravel and grass around
- Hookup was great
- Backin sites have an amazing view of the Colorado river
- Facilities super clean, new
- Hot tub and pool (although we did not use)

Cons
- NOISE! OMG, it's unbearable the noise from i70. I knew we would be right by it but some friends kept telling us how great the place was so we gave it a go.

If you need a single night, go for it. Very pricy for a single night but if you want a guaranteed clean, safe and cool place, this is it. If you want an extended stay, I'd travel a little further to Palisade or Grand Juction or Glenwood Springs.

This is one of the nicest KOAs we have ever stayed at. The patio river front sites are amazing and so worth the extra money. The staff was very friendly on check-in and assigned us to what I thought was the best site in the park. We will definitely be back to this campground next time we're in the area. Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile all worked well.

The site we had, site W31 was tight for big rigs. The bushes between the sites were hitting the side of our slide outs. If you didn’t have slide outs, it would be just fine. The site itself was level, had full hookups, fire pit and even a cement patio with table and chairs. Because it was so close to Rifle CO, AT&T cellular was 4 bars 5G, there were lots of OTA channels and our hotspot had good download/upload speeds. If you need a good overnight spot, this KOA meets that need!

I'm only here for 1 night, so I didn't get to experience all the amenities. It's located on the edge of the Colorado River, which is really beautiful. Sunset this evening was really nice. Checkin went smoothly and the electrical pole worked well. I didn't use water or sewer that is available. Fairly level site and easy to maneuver in the park. Verizon service was good and the WiFi was fast enough for streaming. I'm traveling in a 26' travel trailer.

The only ding for this campground is a low level of noise from the highway, gas station that is next door, and the train, but with the windows closed, it didn't bother me.

Check-in easy, camp personnel very helpful, escorted to site. Advised on check-in that the water pressure is about 80 psi and be sure to use a pressure regulator.
Site W22, 75 foot pull thru patio site, FHU, water, electric (50A) and sewer. Only issue was the sewer connection was about 6 inches above ground level.
Interior roads are gravel, site pad gravel, level left/right and front to back.
Quiet. Not far from I-70 with very minimal road noise, an occasional train went by but didn’t hear it either. Good spacing between sites, concrete patio, picnic table with chairs and a fire ring.
Cable TV has about 60 channels, advertised wi-fi worked excellent, Verizon 4G was 3 bars.
Bath house (multiple available) reasonably clean, poor shower water pressure and water was barely warm. Laundry (multiple available) nice, 2 washers/dryers.

We had reservations for a one night stay 2 days from now. We just saw alerts on Facebook RV sites warning that I-70 is closed in this area both directions INDEFINITELY due to heavy rain and major damage. We immediately called Silt-Colorado River KOA and they said they will not refund our prepayment. We explained the road closure and they said they are aware but will not refund our payment because it was not cancelled at the 48 hour point. Yes, it was a few hours difference but the state of Colorado is announcing all trucks/large RV’s should re-route and avoid the entire area. All the other RV parks (including a different KOA where we gave less than a day’s notice) we called on our route were super helpful and kind so this was very disappointing to find this kind of attitude especially from a KOA which are usually above average in customer service.
Unfortunately, this is not one of the helpful ones.
