This loop had nice trees which was helpful since it was unusually warm for this time of year (Early September). Other loops had minimal trees. This ite was a “pull through”. More of a pull off to one side. The maneuvering in was a bit tricky since the site had a slight curve to it and they had used large rocks to line the sides. Many National Parks have small to medium sites and this one was in the medium range. Enough room for our trailer and screen tent. We were close, but not right next to the bathroom. The views were very nice. It’s hard to beat a Campground with mountains around it. The site are fairly close together.
Location in the park was great! We were a short walk to the shuttle stop and a short drive to Bear Lake, and the Trailhead to Nymph Lake, Dream Lake and Emerald Lake.
The bathrooms were well maintained. Like most National Parks there are no showers-which we knew ahead of time and planned for. There is a dump and fill station but it can get crowded and the water pressure when we were there was low so filling our fresh water took a bit of time.
All in all a very nice experience in a beautiful location.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in the site #126, a dry, PT site for $15/night with an American the Beautiful Senior pass. I originally had reservations to stay outside the park, but checked back 4 days prior to my arrival and managed to snag one of the sites that they only open up for reservations 4 days in advance. I felt extremely lucky! The road is asphalt and the site was gravel. Being a national park, the roads were narrow and the turns were a little tight. This site was only 44’ long and was on a curve in the road. I asked and got permission to come into the loop backwards so my door would face the campground rather than opening right onto the road. Once I got the rig positioned so the slides wouldn’t stick out in the road, there wasn’t enough space to park the truck. Luckily there was extra parking down at the end of the loop. This spot was very level and got a little bit of shade, but still had enough sun to charge the batteries through my solar panels. The two bathrooms on this loop had flush toilets and were very clean. Even with being full, the CG was quiet. There were some hiking trails that left directly from the campground which was great. Plus, being on the Bear Lake corridor meant I didn’t have to get timed entry for this area. It was extremely convenient to get to some of the prime hiking areas. No cell/wifi/OTA at the campground. There were a few spots along the road where you could get a signal. The best one I found was near the entrance to Upper Beaver Meadow – got 2-3 bars 5G Verizon at times. I know people complain about the timed entry passes, but from the standpoint of being inside the park, it really does work to reduce overcrowding and makes the experience much more enjoyable. If I have the chance to come back, I would try to snag any of the following spots: B loop - 34, 38, 46, 54, D Loop – 131, 140, 147, 149 (all these were open areas). If none of those are available, I’d go for A 14 or 18, C 75 or 111. Both of those loops have really tight turns making it more difficult for larger rigs to navigate. I will definitely stay in this campground again!

We did 2 nights in Loop D, which is out in the open and no trees. This works well for our solar setup! We then spent our 3rd night in Loop B, more trees and pretty site (site 34);
PROs:
* The views and environment is what you pay for here - absolutely stunning! Deer wandering through the campsites was fabulous;
* Bathrooms are super clean as is the rest of this large campground;
* Because this campground is inside Rocky Mtn National Park, no additional fees. We do have the lifetime senior interagency pass which allowed us into the NP initially with no cost.
* Three different trail heads right out of this campground, the one to Sprague Lake was fabulous!
* Rangers super nice and helpful but because of staffing shortages this summer, no presentations at the outside auditorium;
* There is a dump and fresh water site by the ranger station check in so we were able to take care of business on the way out;
* If you need anything, the town Estes Park is approx 10 miles from the campground. But the crowds of people are large and the wait in line to get back into the NP is long;
* We were able to stream using our AT&T unlimited Mobley unit.
CONs:
* This is a large campground with lots of noise from campers and there are generator hours;

We had a very nice wooded pull thru site. The A and B sections have trees while the other sections are void of trees and open to wind etc. Well maintained and clean. Campsite pass provides access to all the other areas of the park without a reservation. About 8 miles to Estes Park.

From one end of C loop you can walk to Sprague Lake, which was a nice pre-dinner mini-hike. Site B060 was a little sloped. Definitely a range of shade levels - the ones around us had some nice shade. Super convenient to be able to hop onto the park shuttle and get to trailheads without worrying about parking!

Open flat sites but many are small as frequently seen in NPs. Nice bathrooms . Great access to NP hiking . Wish they would stay open after 9/15 if weather permits but they close CG on 9/15 . Site had tree stumps that were annoying . Good dump station.

There are (unofficial) places for off-leash dog walking, and trails for every ambition. Fly rods are encouraged. If you head to the summit, take advantage of the turnoffs along the way. We received a warning for going too slowly and obstructing traffic. The road defines "steep", "curvy" and "breathtaking". We camped at Glacier Basin Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

The trees made solar power questionable, but we did not need it. Sites can be challenging for big rigs. Our site was a pull thru site next to the road with limited space for the slide out. We did not feel comfortable leaving our living room slide out over night or when we were not at the camper. If size is a concern, check the map carefully when booking. There are also regulations for generators. No cell service.

Great location if you can get a spot. We got lucky to get a spot because it was the last night they were open for the 2019 season. A very nice & friendly park ranger got us checked in and we had a nice stay. The weather gear can get extreme with thunderstorms in the afternoon and heavy rain. Definitely plan ahead at this side of the park for reservations as they do not like walk ups and most likely will be full. Estes Park has some rv parks but they are all $50+ per night and no BLM or overnight parking anywhere nearby. This campground is a great spot and has lots of wildlife. Wish we could have stayed two more nights but they close this campground too early and all others in the area were full. They should leave open until weather gets bad to relieve the congestion and frustration of trying to find a place to park for the nights
