This is the Arizona Desert. Of Course There Are Snakes! Less active in the winter due to the cold but look out for sunny rocks. Snakes like to warm up on such. Keep your eyes open, watch where you step and most likely you will be OK. Remember even rattlers are more afraid of you than you are of them. I grew up in the desert and was never struck.

I camper there 3 times so far and have not seen any snakes. However southern Arizona is home for snakes and we always need to be aware of the surroundings. I would avoid listening music while hiking in the trails.

There are rattlesnakes all over southern Arizona. They tend to avoid people. Just watch where you step, carry a flashlight at night, and don't let your dog poke his head into bushes.

Yes and Gila monsters,Tarantulas and Javalina. Learn what a diamondback looks like and watch out at night on the warm roadways. But it’s rare to see one because idiots kill them on sight.

I am sure that anywhere in the desert there are snakes, but we stayed there and rode(MTB) and hiked all around the park and never saw one or heard of anyone seeing them

Yes there are snakes. But you will probably not see them. If you hike wear sturdy boots and long pants.

There are snakes everywhere in Arizona from around mid-March until November. They are rarely a problem so long as you follow basic precautions. In nearly ten years of RVing in Arizona, we have only seen one snake in the wild.
