Enjoyed our stay overnight. If you’re a bigger unit you probably won’t fit in one of the sites. We are truck and 35 foot trailer, parked along the guardrail at the rear by the river. Didn’t chance the riverbank as it was still fairly early in the season. Very low road noice and shielded by trees and bushes. Recommend

We drove towards the river and found a nice spot along the silty braided river after walking out and scouting first. Some highway noise, 1 intermittent bar of Verizon, few mosquitoes.
If you are in a low height clearance vehicle there are spots on the river under the bridge. There is also a large area on the Tok side of the bridge. There are also many boondocking possibilities between this sight and Tok using the iOverlander app.

We LOVED this campsite and ended up arriving on a day when the mercury was above 90 degrees. We ignored the Milepost's warning of rough gravel road beyond large parking area and took the motorhome back to the gravel bar to find an amazing place to call home. On a clear day the Alaska Range is beautiful. The Gerstle River can change daily so pay attention to the riverbed and what it is doing. It's is a braided river with many streams in its riverbed. Cell signal is non-existent until about 15 miles outside Delta Junction. There is also several campsite in a loop in the wayside that you can call home if the riverbank is full or your not comfortable driving back to the gravel bar.

Gerstle River Wayside offers about a half-dozen wooded campsites in a variety of sizes (with more space for overflow if needed) and while those are nice and all, it is the riverside camping that makes it shine, just be aware that the river could erode the banks very quickly. In our case, it was about 5 feet in an hour and where we originally parked the truck and trailer did not exist by morning, so camp wisely.
Not a whole lot of sightseeing nearby, so I suspect you would have to be fairly desperate for some rest to stay here more than a night or two. Still a great overnight place nonetheless.
Considering how close it is to the highway, there is a little bit of highway noise, but even during peak season the highway seems to go almost completely unused by bed-time.
No Verizon or AT&T signal to speak of
