Ruts in pull outs showed site access difficulty in wetter conditions. We loved seeing the cows and calves grazing close by, the combination of pines and green grassy prairie was beautiful. Our neighbors were Xcapers, friendly. Everyone has dogs, not all on leash. Fulfilled boondocker obligation of picking up trash around site. Sites were mostly clean, noticed some foolish people would leave bags of trash at site when they left, why?
At&T a bit spotty so we used Starlink

Great boondocking spots for all size rigs with fairly level site where we camped before FR71 split. From the I40 Exit 163...take Hwy 64 and get ready to turn right onto Garland Prairie Road (not marked) after marker 186 in about 1/2 mile. Main road Fire Road 108 is easy to navigate for any size. Go about one mile in from Hwy 64 and there is an open prairie area with plenty of spots. Going further, at FR 71, the road splits and is rutted and rougher. Nearby Williams has water available at Exit 161 or just take hwy 64 straight into Williams. Just go into town (do not stop at the Shell station) and there is a 76 station, next to the Safeway, that sells water at an easy to park next to well head for $.10 per gallon. Cost me $2.86 to fill my 30 gallon bladder not quite full There is a Safeway in nearby Williams next to the aforementioned 76 Gas Station. Plenty of fast-food places and overall, a fun place to stay. Keep an eye on the weather as wet weather is not in the cards for staying here. The roads get very muddy and are really soft. Some road noise if you stay next to Hwy 64 but where we were, it was not noticeable but dim noise from trains in the distance.. Access to South rim of the Grand Canyon from this location. 5 bars of Verizon with my WeBoost booster but two bars without.
Road was still wet in some spots from recent snow. We just left Phoenix at 93 degrees and it is 68 here. Just take it easy and keep an eye out for muddy areas this early.

Lots of snow even in March. Had over 6" of snow 4 times. Lows below freezing and highs in the 30's- 50's. So it melts in a day or two. But the road is a mess during the melt. Some stuff in Williams but Flagstaff is 35 minutes away. Kaiab lake is close, very beautiful and lots of big birds like bald eagles, and much more. Lots of trails to walk, Ive seen pronghorn, elk, turkey, coyotes lots of small birds and other wild life.
There are places to tuck away and large open areas for even the biggest rigs.
It's a nice place to stay. During good weather this place is packed for sure.
Not much enforcement here.
Enjoy your stay.

There were still plenty of spots available during a weeknight stay in March. Lovely open field and some wooded sites. Dirt roads into the area and sites are dirt. Rutted a bit from previous users and could be muddy if it had rained. Very quiet and peaceful. We would have stayed longer but had reservations at the Grand Canyon.

It was peaceful and quiet. Beautiful sunrise. We stayed only one night on the way to the Grand Canyon, but would have stayed longer if we didn't have reservations. About 35 minutes drive to Flagstaff, but maybe 5-10 minutes to the town of Williams which has restaurants and route 66 souvenirs.

Lots of room for lager rigs in the big field.
Good cell.
Some air t.v.
Close to Williams. But 35 minutes to flag Walmart.
A dumpster at each highway rest area to dump at.
Cooler summers at 7000 feet.
Some wildlife.
No one patrolling long term camping.

If you continue to the left, there are plenty of spots. We have a 35’ fifth wheel. The road was somewhat rough but totally doable. We joked that it was better than traveling east on I40 to Flagstaff. If you’ve driven that route, you’ll understand.
