Such a convenience yet still I feel secluded! Awesome spots. Go slowly and all will pass.

I would not recommend doing the same unless you have 4W-drive and under 30 feet. Go very, very slow, I would scout it out before attempting. Do not go on any roads heading downward, roads too rough. There are 2 or 3 sites just off of 395 entrance for larger rigs. But you will have lots of road noise.

Popular place, but I still managed to find a nice spot to set up. Maybe a half dozen big rig sites most of which are close together, The road in is rocky and steep but passable if you go slow. A fair amount of debris around in the main camping area shows it is well used. A lot of 2-track roads cris-cross the area which seem popular with the local Jeepsters. They make nice hiking trails though to explore the beautiful scenery. You can follow one northwest from the camping area about 1.25 miles to the Carson River... easy hike down but a lot of uphill coming back. Gardenerville is a nice little town just a few minutes north where you can find most anything you may need. There is a bit of road noise from 395 that comes straight up the hill to the camping area. Smaller rigs than mine can get back farther off the road where it may be quieter, I had 5 bars of 4G on both Verizon and AT&T with my rooftop antenna to my router, 3 bars of Verizon 4G on my phone,

Fantastic, amazing, gorgeous views with hiking right outside your door. Like others have said, the road doesn’t have a sign or name so make sure you have your map out. Close to towns if you need anything. Fairly quiet but there is ORV activity and occasional people come out to shoot guns.

Stopped here for Thanksgiving weekend. The road in is a bit rough. Probably best suited for 4x4. I'm a bit surprised our little toyota made it up the hill. Great view of the Sierra mountains. Lots of broken glass and bullet cases. Can hear and see the highway. Gun shots and ATVs during the weekend.

I can’t believe this is minutes from a town with tons of amenities! We pulled in with a 35 ft class A towing a small car up to the hill. At the crest, we unhooked the car and went 1/4 mile farther down the hill. There were rocks and holes, but at a slow speed did just fine. Road is unmarked for entry, so make sure you have your map up. Don’t need to merge to one lane before entering.

After spending the last month in campgrounds it was great to just find a chill spot. Nice view of the Sierras, short hike to river,10min drive to civilization.
I didn't find the roads difficult. Definitely rocky patches but minor rutting. Way better than Colorado washboard!

Great spot to camp for a night. Some broken glass and garbage but not terrible. I can imagine during peak season it could get crowded and rowdy.
In December I was all alone.
AT&T Cell service was good on my iPhone 11.

The road in sucks, giant rocks embedded everywhere. The views of the Sierras are nice, but there're no trees besides sparse junipers, so the wind can be intense. Plenty of OHV usage on the weekend but relatively quiet during the week. The locals are borderline creepy, slowing down if not just stopping in front of your rig to check out god knows what. No amenities. The weather in mid May was crazy variable, ranging 30s to 40s at night and 50s to 80s in the daytime. I'd stay here again if another global pandemic ruins my travel plans. Otherwise, good for an overnight and stick to the first open area you see.
